All of you, you heard it first here...IMHO this team is regressing because this HC mssage is not resonating. In othr words, he has already lost this team. This team is leaderless, undisciplined mess that is the result of bad coaching at every position... Thank good ness I nolonger watch this collection of misfits starting with HC on down.... I thought he would be different than RS but my god, he makes him look comptent,
I am seeing apathy starting to set in. A lot of empty seats today and the stadium might have been 60/40 Dallas Fans. Left at the start of the 4th qtr as it was too hot to watch this shitshow. Again, whomever the genius was who put the Jets in all black today should be fired immediately for stupidity. Jet players were gassed before the start of the 2nd qtr. A lot of guys were out of their helmets walking back to the sidelines after a series on both sides of the ball. Fact is, not everyone is cut out to be a NFL HC. Glenn is rapidly approaching that territory although I'm getting strange Pete Carrol vibes again. Woody is gonna do something stupid especially watching fans leave in the middle of the 3rd qtr and rows of empty seats. He's gonna have to do what Hess was forced to do and bring a name in here to run the show. If he doesn't? more empty seasts are in his immediate future.
What this team needs more than a HC is a QB. Look around, how many teams had their fortunes reversed by simply selecting a good QB? Look again, how many of the top teams have great QBs leading them? QB is the key!
Kingsbury has been my guy for us for going on 3 years now. So he got my vote. There is a pretty good chance in play we end up being the worst team in the NFL this year. Having the 1st overall pick to offer might in turn be able to influence a better HC hire that we might not otherwise have been able to attract
The problem isn't defensive guys. Plenty of good defensive head coaches in the NFL. The problem is hiring a defensive guy who was never good at coaching defense in the first place. Also, I'll say it again: the Jets actually had it right with Saleh and LaFleur and then Woody ruined it.
You guys are crazy if you think he's getting fired. He inherited an already bad team and the FO added nobody of note.
i hope Woody is watching this Bills vs Pats game and recognizes the difference a competent (dare I say good) coach can make. It's in stark contrast to our shit hire, which I wanted to work as much as the next guy. A favorite son coming home as our salvation, the story writes itself! BUT, it's the Jets, so what did we actually expect to happen!? Pains me more than anything to say it, but look at what Vrabel is already doing in NE...they're playing their ass off in Buffalo tonight, undoubtedly ascending QUICKLY (regardless of tonight's outcome). Yet here we are, floundering, worse off then ever before...short of Rich Kotite....maybe? Forced to watch our greatest rivals in the hands of competent coaches and front offices as we get left in the dust. Fucking Jets. When will it fucking end???
This team is bad, but it shouldn't be THIS bad. They actually got worse than they were last year, and regressed specifically in areas where Glenn said he was going to address. It's not that they're losing, it's how they're losing. If they "turn it around" and end up with 4 to 6 wins, Glenn probably keeps his job. But if they end up 1-16 or 0-17, I don't think he stays more than a year.
Lmao this is wild. IF the Jets fired Glenn, what HC would want to come to this franchise? Firing a HC after their first year, especially a coach that most were excited about would just do more harm to the franchise name which is already at its lowest. Lets not forget Vegas had this team at (5) wins
There are only 32 NFL head coaches in the world. it's a pretty prestigious job. Someone, who has faith and belief in themself will want to come. If they DONT think they can turn it around, then we shouldn't want them anyway. Coming to "New York" (ok, NJ) and winning here is the greatest thing you can do. There are few markets that offer the upside that NY does. Especially, If you come in and turn a perennial loser, the Jets around, you become a God. If a coach doesn't believe they're the one who can do it, then they need not apply for the job...
Not true…he wouldn’t be the first coach to be fired after only one year It’s not the best look certainly, but I also don’t want to waste another 2 years figuring it out either. If the team continues to play like this with no discipline, tons of penalties, etc., and we lose out or only win 1 game, I don’t think firing the HC is out of line…this team is bad, but not THIS bad. They don’t play smart or tough or disciplined. They make stupid mistakes. They don’t hustle all the time. We are not playing like a young hungry team balling out…we are playing like a lazy disinterested team that doesn’t care much…they already know the season is over and they just don’t care. That’s a bad culture. It’s a losing culture. And it means AG’s message is being tuned out. This is not a good sign. I’m not saying fire him now obviously, there are still lots of games left. But damn sure we need to see progress. We need to see improvement. Right now, we are seeing the exact same shit in game 5 that we’ve been seeing since game 1. That is on coaching.
For a 3 week spell in 2022 (Chicago, Minnesota, Buffalo), we genuinely looked like a team who could compete against anyone. We played the Vikings and the Bills on the road (with both of them having extended rest coming in to the game) and, but for a Berrios drop and Mike White's ribs, could have won both games. We were a young team that was showing a lot of potential. Blowing it all up for Rodgers was stupid. Hell, not having a decent back up for Mike White was stupid. The entire franchise went into an unnecessary panic when we went back to Zach Wilson and we never recovered. BTW, a lot of people say White only looked good because Chicago had a terrible defence. I've seen the Jets play crap defences many, many times (yesterday, for example). Jets QBs never throw for 350 yds and 3 TDs in a blowout, ever. We constantly say we need a QB and then, when we get one who looks promising, we throw them to the wolves the second something goes wrong (see also Darnold, Sam).
They can’t draft a good QB because of poor scouting. If they manage to draft one with upside, they can’t properly develop them because of bad coaching and poor offensive talent, so they sign a vet QB and/or bring in hired guns on offense to support their defense oriented play style. This inevitably fails. They fire the coach/GM and hire new ones who are also new to these roles, but are defense minded like their predecessors, changing essentially nothing. Sure, Lamar Jackson would have some W’s on the board, but he probably never becomes the one we know if he’s drafted by the Jets, and no established QB of his caliber, around his age, would ever sign with this organization even if theirs would be stupid enough to allow it. Can’t pin our hopes on drafting a QB that will somehow become elite in spite of the organization. I saw Jesus post not too long ago so he hasn’t left us (yet), but I think even he’d agree that turning sewage water into wine is a big ask.
the problem is it is so hard to get one - there are only a handful of good QBs and when teams get one they almost never let them go Jets have been trying and failing to solve the QB problem for 50 years without any lasting success.
Baltimore is worth keeping an eye on. I think they probably turn it around but if they don’t and end up as bad as selecting in the top 5 in the draft, maybe they want a new coach and new QB. In which case Harbaugh and a trade for Lamar Jackson becomes a miracle option here
