. . . agreement on Phase I, Hamas, Arab countries sign on. Let's try to keep this cool, so it doesn't get shut down. I realize there's a no politics rule, but this is huge. Can we have a thread, civil discussion only? @Petrozza @Cman69 @Brook! Like, love, dislike, or hate Donald Trump, this could be big. By Monday, when the hostages are due to be released, Hamas could go, "April Fools!", but we'll see. My friend of 44 years who passed away in April, her cousins live in Israel (Tel Aviv). People are weeping, dancing, celebrating, the videos are wild. No matter what side of the aisle you're on with this entire thing historically and presently, it's a step in a positive direction. Can we at least just say that?
Well Israel already leveled 90% of Gaza already and have been actively starving out most of the millions of people that live there. It’s about time this whole thing looks like it’s done but I’m sure they just created a whole new generation of people that hate Israel and the US. It’s a mess. And this won’t end civilly lol.
Yes No Politics is the rule. But we were always lenient to allow certain major events to be discussed in the BS Forum and only closed things down when it spiraled. No issues with this staying open. Hope it stays civil.
Somewhere between fact and fiction lies the truth, one of the best oxymorons ever. The way I look at it is this. No matter the history there - and I'm including ancient history - at some point, that being the present, at what point do you say that people, on some level, have FREE AGENCY, and that hatred is a choice? Hatred is taught at home, and if you say, hey, let's LOGICALLY talk about this and the response is invariably 2 + 2 = death to xyz then that is willful commitment, with FREE AGENCY, to zero interest in a resolution of compromise. That is a twofold , two way street.
I don’t really know what you’re getting at. October 7th was a horrific terrorist attack on innocent people by a terror organization. The Israeli’s decided to respond by taking that horrific event and make sure they inflict 50-60x to maybe 100x the death toll on the population of Gaza. And that doesn’t include the forced displacement of the entire population and the fact that most every single one of them is starving by international definition. Those are war crimes. The Geneva Convention says so. Now it raises the age old question (or 70 year old question) - if you are attacked, can you attack back cartè blanche? No restrictions? The USA certainly thinks so and has demonstrated that over our past two Middle East war adventures.
I dont see how they can coexist after what has transpired the last couple years. But if they can then this is certainly a big deal
I don't think anyone doesn't want this deal to go through. I don't think anyone will be surprised though if either side breaks the deal. Sent from my SM-S938U1 using Tapatalk
It was like a day after Trump said the Arabs approved it that he announced he’s letting fucking Qatar build an air base on American soil. I can’t help but think that's not a coincidence. Today went well so thats good but I wish the concessions here were with Israel and not with our country
Trump didn't do anything. He was pro starvation of Palestinians, now he's crying for a Nobel peace prize when we haven't even seen if this so called "peace" lasts. Biden also had a ceasefire agreement during his presidency. Everything is smoke and mirrors with Trump. Also the plan Trump is following is Biden's EXACT plan. Too funny that he's getting credit for anything. Release the Epstein files.
I'm one who doesn't believe the Jews had a right to settle in Palestine when the vast majority of occupants were Palestinian at the end of the war. The Bible is a religious document not a political one, and the so called Balfour declaration was not an agreement by the actual people living there, or even near there. However, what's done is done. You just can't erase 3 generations of Israeli nation building. What I believe needs to happen is first, a two state solution needs to be implemented. However, that alone will not erase the animosity that has festered for all these years, therefore I would also propose, second, that all Palestinians who lost property or loved ones as a result of the founding of Israel be compensated monetarily, and you can now throw in those who suffered as result of the Gaza campaign. That is how people who are wronged in our country are compensated, with money, which has a tendency to heal most wounds. The money would come from a fund in which the contributors would be the U.S., Israel, other mid-East oil countries like Saudi Arabia, and European countries since they started the whole mess.
Trump is not tweeting “we” will have no choice but to go into Gaza and “kill Hamas”. If the terms aren’t followed who the fuck is ‘we’ here? “We” are Americans who should not be killing anyone in Israel https://apnews.com/article/trump-middle-east-wars-gaza-israel-hamas-cfa0bad6105c216ff1b063a4eb1c58ba I hope he’s not getting played by Netanyahu here….a little flattery and suddenly “we” are backing “their” war
