They should have won the Pittsburgh & Denver games. I don't count Tampa Bay as a 'should have' won game even though it turned out that way because they were getting killed. They only got back in the game because Bowles inexplicably completely called off the dogs and the defense never came close to slowing down Mayfield with the game on the line. With Fields out of the picture I can't imagine them going 0-for the season. That said I don't see this being the week the losing streak ends. It's not a impossible game but I'm not feeling it. It would be a great win to get. This coach needs to start stacking some wins to establish his program.
Take a look at what the Steelers are wearing this Sunday night. They would get a trophy for the week 8 POS look.
If the team bus loses a wheel on the way to the staduim, at least everyone will be safe on the roadside.
I'm under the impression this isn't something coaches do often these days. It struck me as a kind of old Belichick-ian move. Let me know if this is actually still common practice and I'm just missing it
I'm with you and so is Bart Scott. Bart Scott on SNY: “When you listen to the comments of (Jets owner) Woody (Johnson, on QB Justin Fields), you also look at the performance, then you know that they’re looking for a spark, so why not give Tyrod Taylor a legitimate shot to prepare as the starter, to know that he’s the starter, and for him to act like he’s a starter,” Scott continued: "But you know, the thing is, all this secret mission CIA stuff, come on, you’re not fooling anybody, right. I don’t think Cincinnati cares who the quarterback is, they’re going to have a plan for either quarterback. But what I think it does is, it creates a weird atmosphere in the locker room, when you’re saying, we all know who’s going to be the quarterback, and (with) the media, we’re going to pretend like we don’t know.”
Glenn is from the old school coaching tree from back in the day when 3 minutes was not enough time for one final drive before the half and FG’s over 40 yards are too risky.
Yeah you’re kind of allowed to fuck around with that stuff in college but it’s bush league in the NFL. Especially with a 0-7 team that has the worst passing offense in the league. Trying to make it look like you’re creating an advantage is lame.
This, plus the fact that all Jets QBs suck. So not naming a QB is equivalent to naming a QB. The Bengals know that our QB on Sunday cannot throw and will likely hold the ball too long.
