Jets are winning this game. If you are one of the High Draft pick lovers, put some money down for a Jets win to ease the pain. That's what I will do. Jets are the masters of ruining draft picks. Look how we helped Patriots land Maye. Look how we let Jaguars land T.Lawrence. This is our Jets. This is what we are good at. Also, say we land a high pick. We picked Darnold and ruined him. We picked Zach when we had the #2 pick and he was a total bust. So even if we have a Top 3 pick, trust to stupidity of Woody and his stupid son to pick the wrong guy for us. There is no hope as long as Woody is our owner. Make peace with it please.
Very good point. Though to be fair 25 year old Nix dominated 19 year old kids in College. lol. Still I think one of the takeaways here is that even in that loaded draft class of 2024, you had to have your own top 3 pick (no one would trade down) to get a high level prospect. Beyond that it's an extremely low probability crap shot. McCarthy and Penix don't looks good, and Nix looks solid, but as you said with Payton's tutelage, and probably would have failed in other environments. Not amazing odds even in QB rich draft beyond top 3. So, for these who want to wait until 2027 for a better QB class, it just does not make sense. Even if it is loaded as in 2024, which is not a given, you need your own top 3 pick. I do not think Jets will even get top 3 this year, and next year hopefully quite a bit lower. That does not mean we have to trade a farm for a bad prospect and force it, but if we think a Moore or Mendoza are good prospects, I would not hesitate to grab them or even have a reasonable trade up for them. And to do that we NEED a pick as high as we can possibly get. So yeah, I think Kirk sucks now and I do not like the guy for using the Jets back in the day, but I do hope he plays well on Sunday.
I wish it could be what "we" think. We are putting a tremendous amount of faith in a 2nd year GM with no real track record to speak of. I am crossing every part of my body crossable that this is the year, FINALLY, that WE can put the hunt for a QB to bed. It's my Thanksgiving Day wish.
