Are they not the still the Yankees even in spring training? If that was the case then the players would be allowed to have facial hair in spring
It's not like they worked out in the pinstriped uniform in previous spring trainings, and are changing that. Why does it matter that they altered their blue spring training uniforms a little bit? I didn't know the blue alternate spring training jersey was part of Yankee tradition.
they have worn the blue jersey for bp since at least 77, my first game... plus I think there is a bit a difference between a BP jersey and a Hat which is part of the uniform
Pavano already having minor injury issues: Carl Pavano didn't take part in fielding drills Sunday due to heavy legs caused by three days of running on grass. "I hadn't done much running outside, only on an [exercise] bike," Pavano said. "So I didn't want to push it. I will throw my bullpen [session today]. I will be back doing PFP [pitchers fielding practice]. As the activity goes up a day here and there, it won't bother me." For what it's worth, Pavano is supposed to be throwing well as he returns from another lost year. Pitching coach Ron Guidry was "tickled to death" with the way Pavano performed in the bullpen Saturday. I was reading that the Rockies made a run at Pavano in the offseason and may do so again. I can only pray that Hughes pitches so well that it will make Pavano expendable.

Upon arriving at the Yankees' camp, he called out Carl Pavano with shocking candor, questioning his desire and casting doubt about his endless string of injuries. On Friday, the two spoke face- to-face for 12 minutes, clearing the air, but the pollution remains. Pavano has a long way to go to win back the respect of his teammates. If he can't bridge that gap, the road out of town becomes more realistic. According to multiple Major League sources, the Rockies will follow Pavano's situation closely and are planning to scout him this spring. The Rockies approached the Yankees about acquiring Pavano in November, but were rebuffed. At that time, Yankees general manager Brian Cashman told me he wasn't interested in "selling low," that he wanted a return on his $39.95 million investment. In Pavano's first two seasons in New York, he has made 17 starts, going 4-6 with a 4.77 ERA. Worse, he has provided back-page fodder with everything from a buttocks injury to a mysterious car accident. Even manager Joe Torre, a calming force, chided Pavano and stopped counting on him to contribute. Mussina's honesty lifted the veil. If Pavano can't stay out of the trainer's room this spring, it could be the breaking point in the clubhouse, forcing Cashman to sever ties. That the Phillies are shopping Jon Lieber - a former Yankee - makes this scenario more intriguing. That's where the Rockies come in, a self-defined short-pocketed team prepared to swoop in and take a low-risk gamble on someone else's headache. For any deal to transpire, the Yankees would have to eat a huge chunk of the remaining $21.95 million on Pavano's contract. Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd has a reputation for exhausting all options when exploring a trade. If he could make the money work - he has Josh Fogg at $3.6 million, which could help balance out the Rockies' commitment - it's not hard to see where there could be a fit if they get Pavano for about $10 million to $12 million. Given what the pitching market was this winter, it's easy to understand the Rockies' motivation in finding a calculated bargain. Get Pavano out of New York and back into the National League and who knows? In his last two seasons with Florida, he posted a 30-21 record with a 3.61 ERA. Pavano might not become available. The Rockies, however, will be ready if he is.
Holy shit taking off because he ran on grass? Isnt he a professional athlete. I know many baseball players are soft but this is downright p***y. Im not a professional but I would always practice in high school unless the doctors or a coach said I must sit out. Ive practice with an ammonia and a torn rotator cuff but never would I sit out because of sore legs thats just soft. Pavano is soft.

Jeter, as captain of the team, should be a big enough man to put what A-Rod said in the Esquire article 6 years ago behind him, and vocally support him in the media.
Exactly... his comments were pretty brutal... even if he wasn't good friends with Jeter which he was at the time... however, I think a championship is the only thing that will put this behind them much like Munson and Reggie...
Because the captain of the team should, 1. Support every player on his team when the player is getting destroyed by your biggest rival, and the media. 2. Be a big enough man to put previous grudges aside for the better of the team. We know that A-Rod doesn't handle pressure well, Jeter should support him in the media, instead of just speaking vaguely about him and allow the media to continuously speculate on their relationship. If Jeter doesn't want to be a big man and put the past behind him, he should do what's best for the team and step down as captain.
Jeter stepping down as captain would probably be doing whats WORST for the team. If you think Jeter defending Arod publicly is going to help Arod stop being a little girl, then think again.
