That would be terrible. Chad is brittle. Kellen is unproven and may not be ready to start yet. And, even if Kellen can play, if he then goes down, Brad Smith is a bad option at QB.

Either one of them have awesome value to the Jets.

they make Pennington's arm look like John Elways in comparison

If Chad goes down, the season's almost over anyway, might as well start to see what we have in the kid. I would rather have unproven than proven-to-be-mediocre.

I would love for the Jets to sign Garcia...But the price would be too high. Bledsoe would be a good vet signing too...once again...price too high...Sounds crazy, but I bet we end up with harrington as the #3

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. -- The New York Jets released seldom-used
backup quarterback Patrick Ramsey on Friday.

Ramsey was acquired last March from Washington to provide depth
at quarterback with starter Chad Pennington coming off a second
rotator cuff surgery, but threw only one pass during the regular
    season.

The 28-year-old Ramsey, who was due a $1.4 million roster bonus
Saturday, was surpassed on the depth chart for a few weeks late in
the season by rookie Kellen Clemens. He threw an incomplete pass
against Houston in Week 12, when Pennington briefly left the game
after getting the wind knocked out of him.

Ramsey also completed a pass to B.J. Askew for a loss in the
Jets' wild-card defeat at New England.

Ramsey spent four up-and-down years in Washington after being
taken in the first round out of Tulane in 2002. He then competed
for the Jets' starting job, but a healthy Pennington easily
outperformed him, Clemens and Brooks Bollinger in training camp.

Ramsey has thrown for 5,649 yards with 34 touchdowns and 29
interceptions in his five-year NFL career.

    It's been real Ramsey.

Thank you for coming in when Chad got the wind knocked out of him, for that one play because Chad couldn't come in that play, as he had to wait until the next down.

I never liked you Pat...But for the record, I did want you to come in and throw one final heave against New England at home right before the game ended.

No surprise at all. Brad Smith should be 3rd string now.

Fully agreed. If we're going to sign a mediocre QB, we can find one mid-season if needed to backup Kellen.

That is just awful logic. What QBs are available mid-season? The Jets should find a veteran QB on the cheap right now. My vote is for Tim Rattay.

    In my opinion it goes

    Rattay>Harrington>B.Johnson

for affordable veteran QBs but I would be happy with Garcia or Bledsoe too.

Vinny is a free agent. I think we have to bring him in as our #3. Actually, it is imperative that we do.

    Ramsey to Big D eh?

Tim MacMahon, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys are interested in unrestricted free-agent QB Patrick Ramsey (Jets) as QB Tony Romo's backup.

No big deal. Ramsey was extremely disappointing.
