i just received an e-mail form a buddy who said that the word in nashville is :
the jets have contacted the titans re R.Starks.
i think he is a RFA. so , the titans would have to be given a 3rd round pick ( ? ) if - IF we sign him.
unless , we " work something else out " with the titans .

He sounds like a decent NT prospect. A 3 year vet....only 23 yrs old. 10 career sacks. He may be worth a 3rd round pick and it wouldn't surprise me to the least if Tannabaum did contact Tenn. If this rumor is true it indicates he does not see many high quality NTs in the draft......

I would love this, Starks is still really young. I hope we get this done

He is listed at 6-3 315. Is he suited for NT?

that guy is overrated and dumb as a brick. if we could get him for a 4th round pick..maybe. but not a 3rd.

btw hes definitely not a NT prospect. he's a perfect fit for the 4-3 defense (3 technique). i guess he would play DE in our 3-4 defense. or maybe mangini is really considering swtiching back to the 4-3. coleman could start at RE, Ellis at LE with D-Rob and Starks at DT. who knows.

lol how is he overrated? you swear up and down D rob can play Nt. starks is bigger and Stronger than D rob.

  8. He's a better fit as a 3-4 DE due to his good height(6'5) and overall strength. id def. sign him for a #3..thatd fill a HUGE need.

  9. I like Starks and want us to sign him...but he is not as good of a player as D rob, and is not a good fit at NT as he isnt bulky enough/does not have a wide enough base, and may actually be too tall and would lose alot of leverage. He'd be a great fit at 3-4 DE.

hydro...it doesnt matter how big the guy is. kris jenkins is one of the biggest DTs in the nfl but he would be useless in a 3-4 defense. besides i dont know what you mean by "he's bigger and stronger than d-rob". starks is taller than d-rob, yet he weighs barely 300 lbs. he looks pretty lanky. so he is definitely not stronger/bigger than d-rob. starks would be a pretty good 3-4 DE i would guess because he can rush the passer and play the run a bit.

dude stats are useless. starks plays next to albert haynesworth who in my opinion is the best 4-3 DT in the nfl. or at least very close to it. he doesnt get any credit because hes a moron and he stomps on peoples heads but he is extremely gifted.

btw: do you really believe james reed is a better DT than D-Rob because he had better stats than d-rob in 05?

Am I the only one who KNOWS that Starks played the nose in a 3-4 set at Maryland? He could play both spots in a rotation, but no, he's not Ted Washington.

We already signed Kenyon Coleman, so this is a moot point. Moreover, I don't think the Titans are going to part with him, because I think they're dying to get rid of Haynesworth.

dude if stark's that awesome why would tennessee rather have a 3rd round pick instead of starks? they're basically saying it was a mistake to draft him in the 3rd round because now they want their 3rd round pick back.

oh and d-rob makes only 800k this season. even our backup fullback makes more money than d-rob. 8 or 9 million, that would be d-rob's cap hit (if we would cut or trade him), not his salary. :)

Haynesworth update: Defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth will be back with the Titans this fall.

He's in the final year of his contract and is scheduled to make $5.5 million, but there's still a chance the Titans will look to sign him to a long-term deal.
