Ok.. Here is my problem. I've read a few pieces and hear from people that think Mangini is a punk etc... for turning Bill in. There are a few scenerios that people bring up... But worse case.. Mangini participated in similar behavior while in New England. If he did, he was doing what the boss said etc... He'd be a punk if he turned him in at that point. Now.. he's with the New York Jets. Belichick knows whether Mangini was a part of this. Why would he continue it? And, if he does, was Mangini supposed to let him b/c he used to be on the Patriots? No... So.. worst case he was aware and Belichick is an idiot for trying to continue it. Best case.. Mangini just knows he might be cheating and caught him? Problem? I think not!!!
Can the Spy gate Video gate stop already it is yesterdays news and todays garbage.... Im sick of hearing about it everywhere. even if Mangine was apart of it it doesnt mean he dropped the dime on him ... Nfl security caught him not EM....
Mangini was a defensive coach/coordinator. The pats were primarily filming the DEFENSIVE signals (to help the offense). Since there are no offensive signals, I don't know how that would be on Mangini.
I don't think Mangini knows about this "procedure" that BB does. If he did, why would BB do it against Mangini? If he did it against Mangini and BB knows Mangini knows he does this, does BB think he can actually get away with this? Especially treating him like crap ever since he came to the Jets.
actually, it was jets security that started it first and then the state police stepped in, which got the attention of the nfl security..
probably because bb knew mangini was part of it in new england and never expected him to turn turncoat/rat.
Heh, but it was OK for the Pats to report the Jets over Deion Branch? Mangini has no interest in what's best for the Pats, only what's best for the Jets and to a lesser extent the NFL in general.
who knows!!! it's hard to make sense out of any of this anymore. it's morphing into a cluster f*ck. there are those taking sides with the jets (dungy, polian, fisher an etc; etc; (although, those guys do come acros as having an agenda against bb, having lost so many times to him in big games. and then there are those that seem to be siding with the good old boy agenda, what happens in house, stays in house.. this story is going to the tabloids and is getting blown out of proportion. we're now hearing nothing but wild accusations and conspiracy theories.. it's getting stupider by the day!!! i just wish the media would get back to reporting on football and leave the tabloid stuff behind...
Rumors are that Mangini complained to the league about BB taping the Jets signals last year but they had no videotape evidence to prove it. If this is true it would explain why BB and Mangini's relationship became so cold.
I heard it described like this on the radio and thought it was a good way to desribe it. Say Belly was CEO of Pepsi and Mangini was his right hand man. Mangini leaves and goes to work for Coke and Belly tries to steal the secret coke formula. Should Mangini turn him in or let him steal it?
I don't think they have an opening. Try Baltimore they are part of the old boy network your looking for!
Bottom lines: - Belicheck has some balls to video knowing that Mangini knows he does this. He flagrantly thumbed his nose at Mangini, the Jets and the NFL - Mangini may or may not have known when in NE. He was a defensive coach. The signals being videoed were of opponents defensive calls. - The league already warned Belicheck so he should feel like a real a-hole for getting caught after being told up front that this would not be tolerated. - Peter King is an a-hole!
They were discussing it on WFAN today and in between jelly doughnuts Mike Francesa actually made a good point. He said for anyone criticizing Mangini, tell me what was he supposed to do? He knew the opponent was cheating and kicking his ass, what were his options? Let him get away with it?
That is a great point. Anyone who wants to paint Mangini in a negative light should have this repeated to them.
He should stop selling soda and start up a brewery. But seriously, most people feel Mangini should stick with the coaches code and keep things in house (within the team circles). Teams are always trying to figure out ways to steal signals and that will never stop. Because of this, most coaches will back off the video method and use notes as a good coach will just try to "one up" the process. A snitch is a snitch and other coahes won't soon forget.
