They should just sit Drew not because Kielty has better numbers against Sabathia but because DREW FUCKING SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This thread had two pages of Yankee talk in it or didn't you notice? Oh, and one dominant pitcher won't necessarily put anybody over the top or the Twins would be winning the WS every year.
That's why I said to STOP the Yankee talk. And it's also why I said FIFTEEN teams instead of EVERY team.
To be fair, you brought the Yankees into this conversation by creating this thread with the assumption that we were going to lose, which even you would expect to get a rise out of the fans here. There is a huge carryover from that which you have to acknowledge.
Actually, I brought the Indians into the conversation. The title says Red Sox/INDIANS ALCS. Nowhere does it say "Come talk about eliminated teams here". Did I assume the Yankees were going to lose? Of course I did. Down 2-0, looking terrible, and having to beat either Sabathia or Carmona at least once to advance made it a pretty logical assumption. And I was right. There are about 4,000,000 Yankee threads to talk about what they should do in the offseason. This isn't one of them.
Well, i agree that this isn't the thread, but I don't think any logical person accepts the fact that you didn't necessarily bring the Yankees into the discussion even though you referenced their opponent as advancing while the series wasn't over yet. I'm sorry, I also missed your Yankees/Cardinals WS 2004 thread.
I wouldn't have made a Yankee thread. But if a Yankee fan had made that thread after Game 3 of the 2004 ALCS, where the Red Sox had just lost 19-8 and looked almost as bad as the Yankees did after Game 2 of the ALDS this year, I certainly wouldn't have thought it was an incorrect assumption. I myself assumed they would lose that series after Game 3. After Game 4 I was still pretty sure, after Game 5 I was 50-50, and after Game 6 I assumed the Sox would win. But if I was asked after Game 3, I would have agreed that it was over.
Ok..I'll stay on topic. Here's a line I'm sure you will like. Do the math. Add the salaries of C.C. Sabathia, Fausto Carmona, Grady Sizemore, Franklin Guttierrez, Jhonny Peralta, Chris Gomez, Rafael Betancourt, Rafael Perez and Ryan Garko. Now what do you have? About a half million less than J.D. Drew.
Since people haven't even posted since 4. RED SOX WIN 10-3 and take the 1-0 lead!!! Non-2007 Cy Young winner Sabathia gives up 8 ER in 4 1/3
Yea but that's what makes it fun, I can get away with almost anything. We don't need no stinkin' Spankee fans.
A bad signing, no doubt. And, not the only one this regime has made - but certainly the worst example. Just a hair worse than our revolving door shortstop position. I can live with that one, because Theo gets strong 'ups' for signing Beckett while his value was down; for building a strong, young pitching staff - on the whole, better than the young Yankee staff - and we may not have even seen the best of them yet in Justin Masterson; and for growing strong young prospects in Pedroia, Ellsbury, and Lowrie. I'm encouraged, but that doesn't mean that Drew's contract doesn't sting.
I'm not sure you can compare the two staffs yet. The only Yankee that has really been seen so far is Hughes. Chamberlain, while great in relief is still a starter. Kennedy had only one start I believe and nobody has seen Sanchez yet as he had Tommy John surgery before the season started. He's suppose to be another 100 mph starter. He was also the one who was suppose to be most ready for the bigs. Even more so then Hughes before the season started.
I think your revolving door at SS may be over because I'd bet if Lowell is resigned than Lowrie would be moved to SS in a year allowing you guys to have DP combo of Lowrie and Pedroia Yeah the Drew signinig stunk when they stole him away from the Dodgers but if Drew is gonna play like he did this year I'm sure the Dodgers will let you have his garbage ass.
