That's why folks like you and I have been calling for Chad's head from the beginning...

Whether or not he's turning it over, either way, he is NOT moving the ball very effectively...

Moss is a one man show, Stallworthless could be on the "all-pro standing there team"...

Cha has only played 3 3/4 games so the other game and a qtr do not fall on his shoulders and in the 3 3/4 games he's plyed we have been in the red zone 11 times.

Clemens actually reached the end zone twice from beyond the red zone.

That's horrible. A QB making his first start can get us to the red twice against the Ravens D. But Chad does it about 2.6 times in 4games???

Or maybe it's the defense that gives up 27 points per game!!!!!! Manning would prolly be 2 - 3 right now with this horrible defense

That doesn't make sense. The thread is about the offense abilty to move the ball, so the defense giving up 27 points per game is why the offense can't move the ball????

The D is rebuilding, but even so I find it hard to believe manning would win less with this D since it's pretty much as good as the D's the Colts have had since manning was drafted. THe D gave the offense a chance to win in every game but the pats in the fourth quarter .......... so how would manning only win 1more game???Some of ya'll exaggerations are terrible.

Sometimes the offense has to out score the other team to win or just keep the ball, and clearly that is something Chad can not do.

Of course it doesn't make sense, it's a head-in-the-sand viewpoint.

Getting back to the thread's original topic, sure we complete third downs a lot more than the rest of the competition. But, I would bet money that we probably have a lot more third down than the rest of the competition.

A lot of times we do a run play and a short pass play on first and second down, netting 4-8 yards. So then we have a medium or short 3rd down. Those, in themselves, are not that hard to convert. A short little dump pass usually does it.

But the problem with that stat is that it also has a different meaning. We have a third down play on basically every four downs. We have first, second, third down. Now if we're only converting those 52% of the time, drives stall out very quickly.

This stat is also a bi-product of Chad's inability to take a shot on first or second down twenty yards down the field. That means more third downs, and shorter third downs.

This stat is not only misleading, it becomes almost meaningless to the support Chad side.

Wasn't it last year that both Mangini and Shotty were saying that doing 10 play drives was very difficult and that they wanted a quick strike offense?

Enough is enough with Pennington, his time has come and pass, he did good things to help progress this franchise i.e. win 2 playoff games, but we need a QB that can take this team to the superbowl

Couldn't agree more, plus it becomes too difficult to score if you are in that many third down situations, good teams can make big plays on first and second downs

i think they are better then williams& johnson, johnson and furrey are both the #2's and i dont think either one of them is better then cotch yet, calvin will get there but i dont think williams is enough better then coles then cotch is better then cal.jonhson, if that even makes sense lol....also, its pretty amazing what our recievers do considerinbg we get no yac and no huge plays, i think the real question would be if we had peyton, carson, bulger, brady, kurt warner,or kitna, where would they rank

i actually noticed us converting on some pretty lenghthy 3rd downs vs the g-men, still doesnt make up for the lack of big play ability, but for arguments sake

The Jets win when Chad plays. Chad is as smart as any QB in the league, Chad has one of the great QB ratings in the league, Chad throws an easy ball to catch, did I mention he is a great decision maker in the mold of Joe Montana. Chad is one the most accurate passer in the history of the league, he has a great 3rd down conversion rate, he never makes a mistake in the red zone. People who want to see Chad replaced are morons, looking for a scapegoat, whiners and/or have no clue.

Clemens is a shrimp, he throws the ball to hard, he holds onto the ball to long, he has happy feet, he reminds people of Jesus of Nazareth with that stupid beard but we all know he is no savior because Chad is the only thing on this team that's right. The D stinks the running game stinks, Nuge stinks but Chad is a top 10 NFL QB who wins.

Until every other element of this team is fixed to the point that Chad, who is smarter than Dilfer, has as good an arm as Brad Johnson can lead us to a SB I will not have any desire to see the QB position improved because Clemens sucks and Chad is as good as at least two QB's who have a ring and the whole concept that you could improve a position that Chad Pennington plays is ludicrous anyway.
