We saw yesterday what being cheap in Free Agency gets you , the cowboys paid big bucks for Davis and resigned Columbo on a big contract when he was on the market and their oline is big and dominant.Plus Kosier signed in prev years is on big bucks

They paid TO big bucks and he repays them time and time again. Players like Ayodele and Ferguson on D help build round the draft picks

At the end of last season we knew our Oline and Dline stunk but we signed second rate , cheap versions of what we needed. We should have ponied up the bucks for a dominant LG or RG and improved the OLB's and Secondary at a minimum. Instead we sign clement , clark , hicks , and kept the likes of chatham, kassell and pouha.

Woody needs to get that cheque book ready cos no top 5 draft is going to change this talent base.

Cheap in free agency and like a drunken sailor in the draft.

How hard would it have been to just wait for David Harris on the 26 if that's who they thought was going to be great and then take a couple of promising big bodies with the second round picks?

The problem with last year's draft is the Jet front office ran it like we were 1 player away from a Super Bowl appearance. Trading picks away to draft 2 plyers when we had seveal other positions to fill was assinine. It shows just how little Tannenbaum knows about the talent level of his team.

I can't complain with the draft since Revis and Harris are both complete studs, but being cheap on Kendall has killed us.

Remember in that same draft we also got Thomas Jones from the Bears which was a steal. After a 10-6 season we all thought we got better from last season, it's just we are losing the close games this year.

While I think Woodrow is as cheap and clueless an owner as they come, I still believe there is a plan. Last year's crop of FAs was mediocre at best, and was best let be signed by other, stupider teams with lots of cap room. I think our FO was waiting for some top-flight FAs to come around to toss some cash around. We did go after the guy from Dallas and made a run at Runyan, but deferred to other teams when middle of the pack guys were commanding 5 mil+ in Buffalo and Washington.

Tanny was smart and kept the money cause he knew we didn't have the team to compete this year. Now we have money, and hopefully will spend it on the likes of Terrell Suggs and Alan Faneca-guys with proven talent and multiple years of effectiveness. While I'm willing to give a pass on the season, this offseason better wow the f out of me, or it's time for Mr. Band-aid to move on.

revis doesnt look worthy of the trade up, we could have gotten another cb later . the kendall debacle killed our line and its cohesiveness. harris does look like a stud, but a trade up after new england passed after they did need youth? our front office sucks big time. i have been called a jet heritic for saying that about the mangina administration, but its looking like i'm right.

What game are you watching? Revis is a shutdown corner and do you ever see him miss a tackle in space? The guy is a complete stud.

No he's not. your team can't stop anyone and teams pass on them like it's a scrimmage. The guy's good. Stud? No.

on the first drive of the game, when dallas wanted to set game tempo, t.o. wasnt shut down by revis.he also beat revis during garbage time for a td. the didnt have to throw to owens, but if they had to revis couldnt stop it, what game were you watching? they ran the ball down our throats all day and witten couldnt be covered. blah blah blah......same old same old.

Jets are in the middle of the pack for passing defense, we are 3rd last in rushing defense. Besides the 1st game and yesterday we have been up in the games or a very close score so you can't use the fact that teams stop throwing when they are up big against the Jets since we are in a ton of close games.

Throw in the fact that before the bye week we got no pass rush.

We have the talent to compete, this has little to do w/ being cheap in FA.

We have the talent? really? We don't have nearly enough talent to compete with teams like Dallas.

Gotta love a Pats fan coming in to say something stupid in relation to a Jets player. Yeah we get it, your team is the best and every Jet sucks in comparison. Thanks it is greatly appreciated that you can come in here and set us Jet fans straight.

One thing though, lets compare the stats of Owens going against, Assante Samuel, the top notch, stud CB of the Pats, playing in front of the best 3-4 DL in all of Football:

TO's stats from the NE game against the stud shutdown CB Samuel:

6 catches for 66 yards and 1 TD.

TO's stats playing against the ordinary, not a stud, rookie CB playing in front of a mediocre at best 3-4 dline
    :

6 catches for 65 yards and 1 TD.

Yup you have me convinced Revis is no stud.............. Thanks.

lets see what happens to revis when the real 81 starts running routes.the dallas game versus the pats was a completely different scenario, compared to revis against t.o. the cowboys actually tried to throw to owens against the pats. the boys simply ran it down our throats. samuel is better than revis, dont be nieve.

We absolutely do- w/ a healthy, productive Chad or if KC proves to be for real. right now we are horrible at QB and that was the difference in yesterday's game. Our D played well but we couldn't move the ball on O setting up Dallas w/ short fields and then we gave them a TD w/ an INT. We also had Coles out which hurt, Dallas is better than us but we can compete w/ them if we had better QB play. Dallas is good but they are not a great team despite what we saw yesterday.

Romo threw it 29 times against NE, 28 against the Jets.

Oh yes I forget, the real 81 was not playing yesterday and the Cowboys did not try to throw against the Jets. Thanks for the pointed analysis, sorry I was being so "nieve".

    Hahaha anymore great theories Einstein?

Revis on the Patriots would be dominate. Playing for a team with a pass rush? Wowzers!!

now y are the 9ers not a SB team?

i don?t blame them for keeping the money last year. There wasn?t anyone for a reasonable price.

And i belive, that the FA is a very bad way to get Superstars. Most of them aren?t that good anymore, when they get their big bucks. You just screw your cap for 2-3 players, who won?t play up to their money. FA is a place to fill some holes, with solid players on a reasonable price, that?s what they did by signing Coleman, for any other hole, there just wasn?t a solid player for reasonable price. I think when the right player at the right price are available, tanny won?t hesitat.
