Well, I don't like him being in the same city, I'd prefer somewhere like... Japan. I'm shocked the Dodgers didn't grab him. Torre would definitely play him over Loney.
Betemit is useless. Hawkins is useless. People can praise Cashman all they want. His decisions still suck in my mind. If Wang wasn't hurt we could have a top 3 of Santana, Wang and Chamberlain. With Pettitte and Mussina filling out the top 5. Wonder what our odds would be then. Instead we have garbage1 and garbage2 on the Dl.
Agreed about Betemit and Hawkins. I want both gone sooner than later. As for Santana, his velocity is down. While I won't go and get involved in the conversation in another thread about him, I sincerely believe that there is something debilitating going on with his arm. Sure his numbers are good, he's still one of the best in the league. For how long is the question. I think that's the ultimate reason the Yankees and Sox walked away. Hughes and Kennedy are still babies. They have entire careers ahead of them. You're evaluating two guys who legitimately could still be playing AA ball, who haven't yet had a lot of success at the major league level, and already declaring them busts, with less than a full season of work between them.
We definitely should've traded for Santana. He could have given us 2, maybe 3 good years before his elbow was completely destroyed. Those last three years at $21M per would've been awesome.
Even better, we could have then extended Pavano another 6 years, so they could hang out together down in Tampa on "rehab assignments".
I love that the Yankees are playing in Pittsburgh tonight, then fly home, and have to play the Mets two games tomorrow, ESPECIALLY while the Mets are off today. Of course the fact they had to pitch Chamberlain and Mussina in Pittsburgh, and the Mets get Geisen and Ponson tomorrow - OH BOY - nice going.
Let's wait 2-3 years before we decide waht was best. For THIS year there's no doubt having santana would have been the best option but that deal was declined for the future not for thisn year and Santana hasn't exactly been brilliant in a pitchers park in a weak league.
I love that Joe used to try to contribute to the board (as dumb as it was), and once he realized even his fellow Mets fans hated him and his posts, he just decided to become a troll.
oh boy nice going? like the yankees made the schedule and purposely hurt wang and hughes. you make no sense. and baseball isnt exactly a game you have to be rested for Joe. so i guess youre predicting two met victories tomorrow considering how youre talking about giese and ponson?
nice way to start the game. Damon: double, stole third Jeter: RBI double Abreu: RBI triple Arod: RBI double
When they make up this game July 10th is it going to start in the 3rd inning 3-1 yanks or start all over
This couldn't have gone worse, at least if the game was called before it started we could have had Mussina pitch today but we lose a lead and waste a Mussina start.
