Well, at least that's what the posters here must think. After all, as soon as he was released, Bill went after a weak-armed, useless piece of junk QB who sucks to lead his team for a few years.:rofl:
huh? Chad's deal is essentially for one year. Chad Henne will be their QB at the latest next season, and quite likely by the end of this season. Deciding that Chad Pennington is an upgrade over Josh McCown isn't the same as anointing him franchise savior.
Is this sarcasm? I hope so. Parcells is no idiot, and Pennington is no useless piece of junk. I'm counting on the sarcasm.
I Would never call Parcells an idiot given his track record. On the other hand the starter of this thread...well....who knows....
U must be really crazy calling Parcells an idiot. Are you sure you took your medicine today? Pennington is no useless piece of junk. He is, at worst, a top 20 QB in the league. No one in the league is as good a him when comes to short passes. Sure he has a relatively weak arm, but guess what, everyone knows that and yet he has the highest completion percentage in the nfl HISTORY. That says alot about his intelligence. I have always backed him up and I still do even after he signed with the Dolphins. Did'nt we release him in a matter of a day? What the hell is he suppose to when he's offered a starting job and essentially the same amount of money he was going to make with the Jets? We took care of our business, no regrets. He took care of his business, no regrets. We are even. If anything, he did more for the organization. I respect Chad a lot. I have my opinion. Go ahead and make yours...
Wow guys, it wasn't obvious that the OP was being sarcastic as fuck? He doesn't believe Parcells is an idiot or that Penny is a piece of junk. From what I've read, the dolphins QB situation was even worse than ours. Pennington is an upgrade for them and we all know that Parcells loves his vet QB's. I don't believe Parcells going after Pennington is a giant endorsement for Chad's skills, but he makes the Dolphins a better team.
I was all for change this year; however, pretty much ever season Chad has been healthy, the Jets have made the playoffs. Its not as if he was useless at all.
Parcells upgraded the 'Fins QB situation like the Jets upgraded theirs. Pennington isn't th worst NFL QB out there--the 'Fins' QBs were. So they moved up a notch. On the other hand, there were tims when Pennnington really looked THAT bad last year. We won't know if that was his OL or not for a few games.
Me neither, but I think that's for entirely different reasons. So, why are you so amazed? Let me guess... Are we all so dumb, and you're so much smarter than the rest of us? Well, if you mean me, you got that one right. Anybody's got to be smarter than me. After all, I spend all my free time posting on a stupid pro football message board.
His track record as a GM is mediocre at best but he made a good move here and it's great to see the class of the Jet fans as one of our long time players headed out the door. It's very embarrassing to be a Jet fan sometimes.
There's no question their QB situation was worse then ours. They signed our problem and it was an upgrade.
Why the sarcasm? This was a nice move by Parcells because he is rebuilding and has his QB of the future on the team and the cap room to bring in a veteran for a deal that doesn't tie their hands now or in the future to build the team. The Jets have decided they are in a win now mode and didn't like what they saw out of Chad or Clemens. We had to dump Chad to make room for the upgrade. Clemens is costing us next to nothing and still has the skill set they like although he clearly isn't ready. Miami is in the exact opposite position. What we did and what Miami did are not mutually exclusive moves. Chad is a perfectly good QB at beating the majority of mediocre NFL teams. He is not the guy to take a team from good to the next level. Parcells coined the phrase "hold the fort player" and that's what Pennington is for Miami. Favre was brought in to win the war.
I agree totally. Miami didn't have a QB that I'd even rate as mediocre. Chad is a definite upgrade over what they currently have. He was brought in to play for a season or two until they find their starting QB either in the draft or through free agency. Say what you want about him, but while he can't take a team on his shoulders and win games for you, he's not the type of QB that will lose games by making stupid mistakes either. Considering that Parcells believes in playing mistake free (capitalize on the other teams mistakes, steal a few wins because of the other team screwing up) football, this was a good pick-up for them.
