And you refuse to acknowledge, or are unaware, that the Dolphins made NO major upgrades in the offseason while the Jets did. The 4-12 team brought in two new O-Linemen, a new Nose Tackle, and a new OLB as upgrades over last year's chumps. This is not even taking into account Favre or the draft. Meanwhile, the Dolphins......lost Zach Thomas and Jason Taylor. Oh, they signed Ernest Wilford. Sometimes, there is a huge difference between 1-15 and 4-12.
Um, I never said you said anything about the Jets winning a Super Bowl with Favre. I'm saying that so I'm not sure how that's putting words in someone's mouth. And where did I say you said the Jets would make the playoffs with Favre? You're losing me here. Actually, it may be possible the Jets already have a great young QB prospect in Ratliff. He lit it up against the Browns and he's been great all training camp. I'd much rather watch him sling it and learn than some 39-year old well past his prime, who's just going to take up a spot for a year or two. Why is that such a bad thing?
My wife is much smarter than that. I haven't liked the guy since he gave away Gastineau's sack record. I lost all respect for him as an person and football player. Add to that all the prima donna crap he's pulled with the Packers for the last three or so years and I like him even less. Pardon me for being old fashioned, but I don't like O.J. Simpson because he's a murderer, Kobe Byant because he's more than likely a rapist, and Favre because he's a jerk. I am going to find it very difficult to root for the person I dislike most in all of sports.
but the glove didn't fit. I don't think Favre is 100% at fault for all the stuff that happened with the Packers....their FO has blood on their hands too.....but having said that, i didn't care for the "dive" involving Strahan either. But.....Favre also brings a lot to the table in regards to playing the QB position at a high level.....this is something we've been "lacking" for a number of years now. I can't overlook that.....especially since i'm sick of losing games because of it. We'll just have to agree to disagree, LTJF.....Favre has my support, 110%.
Are you really surprised that you're in the minority here? We spent a zillion dollars to fix the last year's problem areas (O-Line? Check. Nose Tackle? Check. Pass Rush? Check.), and you'd rather watch Ratliff, who first action in the NFL was three days ago, "sling it?" If this were a rebuilding team, I'd be right with you, but this isn't a rebuilding team. The rebuilding is DONE. You don't like Favre and you don't think this is a playoff team. I like Favre (or was indifferent before he became a Jet), and I think this IS a playoff team.
So like with Favrenstein, we'll just have to agree to disagree. And believe me I hope you're right. I hope the Jets are a playoff team. I've waited longer as long as anyone for another Super Bowl. But I don't think that will be the case, and then I would have suffered through watching Favre for nothing.
Cheers, man. I've actually been having this same discussion with my father-in-law, who shares your opinions on the state of the team and pro-Chadness. I was already optimistic before Favre, mainly because of this: Last Years starters: DeWayne Robertson, Adrien Clarke, Anthony Clement, Victor Hobson. This year's starters: Kris Jenkins, Alan Faneca, Damien Woody, Calvin Pace/Vernon Gholston. I thought we were contenders, now I think we could be, well, CONTENDERS.
context of the different situations between the Jets and the Dolphins, not the post or the sarcasm to be understood. dude, you really have trouble with comprehension. my post was clear, and the order in which the ideas presented were laid out in order to be easily understood. time to drop off the message boards, seriously, and undertake activities that will sharpen your intellect. you really don't seem to understand the written word.
lmao. sarcastic as fuck is slightly above sarcastic as hell on the sarcasm meter. I don't know if you were telling me about the context or simply responding to the OP, but the other part of my response was basically saying the same thing as you in response to the OP. I do believe what you said is context as fuck though.
I can't speak for your situation, but what BP did was simply make a smart football decision. We have young inexperienced QB's...not counting McCown. Chad is by far more experienced and has a proven track record. The one thing every team needs is a guy throwing the ball who's experienced, smart and capable. Chad is all of that. Miami is better "NOW" then they were, but not because our situation sucks, it was inexperience more then anything. Chad will be the starter and we have two talented young QB's to learn under Chad.
It's amazing that as soon as Chads released he is "useless" and "junk"...If anything he sucks for signing with the phish (straight up spite), but he isn't a garbage qb at all.
I agree with just about everything you said here. but If every team needs an experienced, smart and capable QB and the dolphins did not have one before signing Chad, wouldn't that make their QB situation suck before the signing? Surely it was worse than ours.
No, I'd say the Bears QB situation sucks. I think there is a difference in inexprienced youth and crap veterans.
i agree with you. chad had numerous chances with the jets- got 8 years and $64 million to get the job done. couldn't. not his fault boobway let the o-line deteriorate, but his contract took up too much of the cap and we had to let thonas and mckenzie leave for better offers.
