Show me where he ever said that? It's easy to look up on the internet. I have a great memory, sometimes I remember incorrectly but most of the time my memory is good. Show me where he said what you cliame he said b/c I don't think he said it.
I have a pretty good memory as well, but you are going to have to wait for the specific instances, because I don't have the time to search through 5 pathetic years of idiot quotes from the least accountable coach in the entire NFL today, and probably not tomorrow either.
"Peterson misread Donnie Edwards’ ability to remain healthy after more than a decade of being injury free." This is a really weird criticism. I don't know much about Edwards, but if he was injury free for a decade you can't blame Peterson for thinking Edwards had a good chance of being healthy enough to play. As to the TE record thing, people in this country need to grow up and stop making everything about self esteem and stuff. What happened to being an adult?
The point here should be about Herms hair-trigger when it comes to throwing others under the bus. Two years ago he was throwing Mike Solari under the bus with ass left-handed support ("I support Mike. He's young. He'll be a great coordinator someday.") Herm, of course, fired him a year later. The most telling (and best) line in the whole article is It's just the way Herm is. Nobody's ever going to change him. He's a victim of someone else's screw-ups. Always. PLUS, he's a weasel when it comes to feeding stories to the press. I don't know that first hand, but when you see the M.O. enough times. . . I LOVE the guy for the smiles and humor he brings me. But I don't mistake that with my support of him as a good football coach. So, Herm, are you leaving for Kansas City? Heh. Funny.
Man, I miss his press conferences so much. His quotes always had me laughing hysterically. Coupled with the overacted facial contortions on the sidelines only made it better. Even his, "what the hell just happened?" look was funny...
Take your time but please get back to me on that. Sometimes that is NOT a coahces decision. Did you have a problem w/ him finally firing hackett? or firing Cottrell? They both deserved it, right?
I think the point of this thread is this... How come it is always either the GM's, the coordinators', or the players' fault, but never Herm's?
I didn't. The problem with Herm is that everyone AROUND him is always to blame. Other coaches fire assistants and coordinators, for sure. Hell, Belichick did it after the Superbowl last year. No one seems to do it with the frequency and ease of Herm Edwards, but at the same time disclaiming any fault. Instead of saying something stoopid like, "It has nothing to do with me," how about saying nothing. How about just saying, that's an in-house issue.
I said in my first post on this thread herm deserves blame as well. That is the peoblem w/ people(not you specifically). They read what they want to. In the past I criticized Herm when he deserved it, I just never placed ALL the blame on him like most on here do. How many guys did he fire? 2-3? We have alread seen that many leave Mangini's staff in just 2+ years. It happens.
There's a difference between firing a coordinator every offseason and losing position coaches. Position coaching changes are pretty common, but not coordinators unless they get HC opportunities themselves. The only coordinator he hasn't fired so far has been Gunther...
I don't think that is the point. The question that should be asked is 'Why does Herm never accept any of the blame?'
Good god this would be hilarious... again though, consider the source. http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/16/end-of-the-road-for-king-carl/ END OF THE ROAD FOR KING CARL? Posted by Mike Florio on October 16, 2008, 3:44 p.m. EDT Our buddy Jason Whitlock issued a call to arms in his latest FOXSports.com column, challenging a bunch of legitimate football writers (and, you know, me) to begin banging the drum for the ouster of G.M. Carl Peterson in Kansas City. If the gossip on the league grapevine means anything (and, lots of times, it doesn?t), it?s not necessary. There?s talk in league circles that Peterson will be ousted after the season. Potential candidates aren?t known, but we?re told that former Jets G.M. Terry Bradway is trying to position himself for the job. If that happens, it remains to be seen whether coach Herm Edwards would stick around. Edwards and Bradway had an odd relationship at times when both were in New York, with Edwards refusing to use some of the guys that Bradway had signed, possibly as a way to finagle more influence over the player-acquisition process. Bradway was demoted from the G.M. position in 2005, but then was later promoted to director of player personnel. He remains the top scout with the Jets, given that G.M. Mike Tannenbaum?s expertise is the salary cap and contracts.
I'm kinda surprised to see this article coming from Whitlock... I thought I remembered him hammering Herm in the early days of his arriving in KC. I wonder if he was added to the guest list of the TC banquets?
he was here 5 years, he didn't hire his coordinators. When he got more power he let them go and they deserved to be fired.
Some days the air is just a little sweeter. Years from now people will look back and examine the Herm Edwards coaching tree.
