while ted cotrell sucks i have to say that san diego really made a bad mistake getting rid of shotty and replacing him with norv i have always sucked and will continue to suck turner.

this guy just isnt a good coach and it will as it always does show in the end. shotty on the other hand never seemed to win the big game but always always had his team playing tough football and gave them a chance everywhere he has coached.

i know i know its not jets news but i couldnt help myself feel free to move if necessary.

Well he beat us just a few weeks back did he not? if he as you say such a bad coach then we must be one hell of a terrible team to lose to him

we lost a shootout, Champ.....we put up 29 points against that "AWESOME DEFENSE"....Ted Cottrell is a piece of hot garbage. Open you eyes, man.

Any defense that allows 29 points (win or loss) is not a good defense in my eyes.

I'm not saying pick up cottrell at all but something has got to be done about our D we need to just let the Dogs eat set them loose. We spent all this money for a pass rush let's get going we need all types of blitz and be more willing to try stuff

Something should have been done about DC in the offseason. This is Sutton's third year fumbling around like a buffoon and failing to put a complete defensive gameplan together and the blame falls squarely on Mangini.

The hope was to land Rob Ryan, a non-pussy defense playcaller, but Davis is in love with him so he is going nowhere.

The fact that the man knows he is going to be replaced any day now must do something to his motivation, but having a backup replacement would have been nice. I honestly think Cottrell is a slight upgrade.

    Marvin Lewis next year?

I hate the idea that they tried to tamper and get Ryan from the Raiders, and hate even more the idea that they had no backup plan and kept Sutton around. That is bush league and incompetent.

ok so let's take this a step further. Let's say all of Hell rises up and Woody is forced to fire the coaching staff. What to we do...realistically -- that is forget Cowher; forget Holmgren?

Keep Westhoff and make him HC? Hire Spanguolo from Giants? Billick?
How bout Spanguolo as HC with expertise running a 4-3; Wade Phillips as Asst HC/Def Coord (he's outta big D) with the 3-4 expertise; and Billick or keep Callahan to run offense.

You have to find a 3-4 guy. To go back to the 4-3 would kill this team, and waiting for it to work again would piss everyone off.

I like Marvin Lewis for a coordinator job, maybe even head coach because the Bengals are more dysfunctional than just him and the players brought in. He could do well here.

Most of the 29 points we scored were in garbage time.

Its an unwritten rule that no head coach can be fired until at least one assistant coach has been blamed for the team's problems and fired. This is just the first step in getting rid of Turner.

This team is addicted to hiring friends and is infatuated with the Pats. Woody wants the Jets to be a Pats clone. Ryan is friends with Manicotti and used to work for the Pats, it is therefore written in stone that they lust after the man.

SD is far from an "awesome" defense. they are giving up like 25 pts a game.
