Overly confident (actually, cocky) dolphin fans

Has anyone noticed how remarkably chatty dolphin fans have been? I happen to know a lot of dolphin fans and I often frequent dolphin fan websites (the dolphins are still my all time hated Jet rival, yes even more so than the Pats - the first Jet game I ever watched was the Marino Fake spike game, so I'm sure you can understand) . . . I have been amazed at how many of them all seem to have two distinct beliefs:

    1) The dolphins are just as good as the other three teams in the AFC east.

    2) The Division very well may come down to week 17, Dolphins @ Jets, AND, given that we "stole" the first game from them, they are primed to beat us in the meadowlands for the division title.

Comments on 1) : The dolphins are a good team and they have done a great job this season. I am certainly worried about them being serious contenders in a year or two, given the fact that Parcells has built every team he has had into a championship contender. Having said all of that, I firmly believe the Dolphins are a step behind the Patriots and Jets (I think them and the Bills are very close to one another, both teams not being quite as good as the Pats or Jets). I expect them to hang around because of their weak schedule, but remember, they still are due to lose to a team that they "should" beat. (Every team has one of those and now that the dolphins are expected to win week in and week out, don't be shocked if they cough one up in the next few weeks against a team you don't expect - I could easily see them losing in Kansas City, for example) Also, they still have to play NE next week at home and BOTH the jets and bills on the road. I see them winning 1 out of those three games AT THE MOST. (I am aware that the Bills game is actually in Toronto but I just think those teams are too evenly matched not to split) I guess I just think that they have "9-7 and missed the playoffs by 1 game" written all over them.

comments on 2): The Jets OWN the Dolphins. We ALWAYS beat them when it counts. We have beaten them 17 out of the last 21 times and 5 times in a row (including an 8 game winning streak during that stretch). Now the past, in and of itself, is meaningless. Obviously, all that matters is the players and coaches we have this year versus the Players and coaches they have this year. However, does anyone not firmly believe that we have the better roster???? I mean, seriously, all Chad vs. Favre threads aside, we are a more talented, more balanced team. RIGHT? So why are they so confident? And just for the record, we didn't "steal" the first game against them (fins fans like to bring up that they were "throwing for the endzone at the end of the game with a chance to win" and that they were "robbed on the coles pass interference call"), we TOTALLY OUTPLAYED them for three and a half quarters of that game, WITHOUT a place-kicker, in their building. We missed a 37 yard FG, we turned it over (Favre fumble) going in for a score, and we opted out of an extra point for a failed 2 point conversion attempt, and we STILL won by 6 in their building. Is there something I'm missing here? (By the way, one of the games I am MOST confident about on our remaining schedule is playing the dolphins the last week of the season at home)

We "stole" the game from them, thats funny. As I remember we dominated the first 3 quarters. They made a nice comeback but we won. But, they did not use the wildcat in that game, thats the other excuse the idiot Phins fans use. Funny how the Phins are always better then us in the moronic fans eyes despite beating us 4 times in the last 21 meetings.

I really hate cocky dolphins fans. I don't know what it is but I can't stand them. I have a couple of friends that are fins fans but they're pretty realistic and don't act like some of the retards I've seen ...

Where in Tampa are you? I live in Brandon, are there any places in the Tampa area to watch the games with Jets fans?

Dude, I can't believe you live in San Diego. It's seems like you live right here in Miami. How do you know so many fins fans living so way out west? At least you can understand my personal issues living here in South Florida. I was at the last game between the Jets and fins. It's funny no matter how often or convincingly we beat a team, they always have something to say. Today I purposely wore my Jets t-shirt to work, knowing that there would be some loony fins fans with some smart remark. Just like I expected I heard it all, but the most common one was JETS SUCK! My response: "Hate all you want, but when you look up, you'll only see 1 team sitting up there, and thats the NEW YORK JETS BABY!" It felt sooo good saying that. Because it's not often we get to say it.
BTW here in South Florida, jet fans don't only have to fend off Dolphin fans, but also a growing number of Pats fans too. A lot of New England transplants down here, and they're rapidly growing.

Look at my link below, you'll see my nephew the Dolphins fan. Even though he's just a kid, they all act like him. Even the old ones.

On the TD pass to Stuckey safety Y. Bell thought BF was going to run and got out of position leaving Stuckey open for the miracle TD catch. They also made a bad decision in throwing the ball to Ginn on the last play, their TEs were killing us all game long, a problem which never went away for this team. A little bit here and there and the Fins could have won.

Yeah remember when all those fags kept telling us about how hot it was going to be in Miami week 1 and there was no way we were going to be able to stand up blah blah blah?

I hope there's snow and 30 MPH winds week 17. Fuck the gay Dolphins.

hahaha. well the reason I know so many Dolphin fans is because I have only lived in San Diego since last June . . . I am originally from Northern New Jersey (Hackensack) and then went to college in Ithaca New York for five years. (I'll be moving up to northern cali to go for my phd next fall - can't wait for the loony raider fans up there) Anyway, yeah there are a ton of dolphin fans in Northern Jersey (or at least WERE for the first 17 yrs of my life) and they were, generally speaking, a bunch of very delusional people. I just find them so irrationally cocky and boastful about their team, particulary towards Jets fans. (Which of course, makes no sense because we own them!) Haha , I'm glad you have experienced similar things deep in enemy territory. You are going to be walking so proud down there when the Jets clinch this division in 4 or 5 weeks.

Yeah but we were severly handicapped in that game without a place kicker, shot ourselves in the foot by fumbling while going in for a score (favre's fumble) and missing a 30 yard kick (on nugent's injury), failed on a 2 point try because we couldn't kick an extra point, yet still totally outplayed them for 3 and a half quarters, (then let them back in the game in the final 8 minutes) and beat them by 6 in their building. (In 90+ degree weather)

The Dolphins? HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. The only way they could win the AFC East is if they have it locked up going into week 17 because the Jets always beat Miami. Even the Jet fans who never have any faith in the Jets know the Jets beat down Miami.

Well as I have always said, When it comes to pissing off sports fans, nothing gets on their nerves faster than the cocky fans of division rivals.

So quickly the Fins Fans forget last season debacle. To be 100% honest, If they do not win another game this year, they have had 1 hell of a season, in strict comparison to last year alone.

Every good team loses a game they arent supposed to every year (Oakland.......). Barring of course last years Pats, oh wait thats right, they lost the Super Bowl. Just like every bad team wins a game they shouldnt, look no further than us Beating Pittsburgh last year.

So it's completely unrealistic to believe the fins will win every game down the stretch they are supposed to. meaning they will blow a game to either Buffalo, KC or St. Louis. I fully expect the patriots to just beat the Fish in New England, and week 17 of the season, I seriously doubt has division implications. I fully expect us to either run away with it over the next 4 games, and have it locked up in week 16, OR we blow the lead and are out of DIVISION contention come Dolphins time. My thought is that Week 17 may hold playoff implications for the Phins, but I expect us to have a spot locked up by sundown on week 16.

we have 2 free wins (granted cross coast travel) in Seattle and San Fran. Denver I have decided we will blow down the stretch, and I believe we trounce the fading bills at home. Meaning we will be at worst case sitting at 10 wins walking into week 17, MORE than good enough for a playoff spot, maybe not Home throughout the playoffs, but more than capable of winnning a division. BTW I believe we can walk into Nashville, and walk out unscathed. Giving us 11 wins walking into the final week of the season, meaning no one else can keep pace, as we hold Tie breakers on our entire division now. Barring of course, miami winning out. Which WILL NOT HAPPEN. The fins will not go 12-4 this season.

It's the typical crap. All of a sudden they think they can hang with us because they had some surprising results. It's all bullshit anyway. They haven't beaten us in so long. Well when they come up here and freeze their asses off, they will go home with another loss.

Substitute "Jets fans" for "Dolphins fans" and this is exactly, word for word, the sort of stuff that was being written on Pats messageboards before Thursdays game - the sort of arrogant stuff that got some of us all worked up.

Dolphins fans are not overly confident, just as we Jets fans weren't cocky before the Pats game. Fans get excited when their teams do well and they start talking about the possibilities - it doesn't mean they've forgotten history, just that they're excited about the future. It's what being a fan is all about.

Honestly, all of this "fans from other teams are idiots" crap is getting really tired. They're exactly like us, with all the same faults, blindspots, prejudices and hopes.

Reality the Dolphins have an easier schedule than us. We run the table up to the Dolphins game they can't catch us.

If the goal is the SB 12 and 4 gets you the first round bye and puts us in position. Right now the Dolphins have no say in our ability to get to 12 and 4 and if we do the Dolphins aren't going to win the division.

SB are won by really good teams that dominate down the stretch. We either are or we aren't. The Fish don't have anything to say about it. If we do our job Ratliff and Gholston will be starting that meaningless game.

No way any AFC team get in the playoffs with only 10 wins.

"I just think that they have "9-7 and missed the playoffs by 1 game" written all over them. " Wildcards will probably be two from Jets, Pats, Steelers and Ravens. All should have at least 11 wins.

No they're not. They're dolphin fans. I'm willing to bet some of them aren't even humans.
