its so crazy that only 40 years ago they didn't even have the technology to go back to the game after they switched to something else. now they can cut into and out of different games. go to the studio, anything they want. that probably would have been appreciated by the many fans trying to watch this game that day.
Duh U really do not understand what occurred & you post babbling BS. NBC made a decision to cut away from the game & show Heidi instead. Can U understand that? They could have easily gone back to the game but that would have meant taking Heidi off the air so they decided Heidi will bring them higher ratings then the NYJ/Oak game & they choose Heidi over the game.
40 years after the Heidi game the Jets lose to one of the worst teams in the league in OT for no reason on a 57 yard kick. It makes sense now though. Damn you Heidi!
No need to get your panties in a bunch. Not many of us here were around to watch that game like you were. By the way, how was it like while you were watching it live?
It was a fun game until NBC pulled the plug then it bacame quite annoying. If somebody was not around when the situation arose then they should not post what they know nothing about. I am sure if you goggle Heidi game you could have found out what occurred & then posted the truth not BS right?
Did you watch the video? They said they could not get back to the game. They said that there was no way to do that back then
No I did not watch ur posted video sorry but that was NBC babbling BS. The real reason is they wanted to air Heidi plain & simple which came out in the papers days after the game was played
Golly. Do yourself (and everyone else) a favor and take a Midol or six. While you're at it, take a warm bath and try to wash the sand out of your raging womanhood. Your catty crankiness is not becoming and it adds no value to the ongoing discourse.
Cline later said that he was called directly by the president of NBC after the network ended its coverage, demanding that the game be put back on the air. However, the video link to the stadium had already been disconnected; reestablishing it would have required action by a multitude of telephone switching stations across the country. AT&T, which handled NBC's remote feeds, was unable to reach all of the necessary offices before the game ended.
While everyone knows what happened that day, try watching the video above for further details describing why the incident occurred unless, of course, you wish to remain oblivious to such mundane things as facts and reality.
thank you for attacking me when all i did was take the video for what it said. i have seen stuff about the heidi game before and it is always brought up that they could not switch back to the game. but im sure your theory is actually correct and everyone else is just lying.
Jeez, dude, you must be the model for "grumpy old men". Lighten up, you give the rest of us old guys a bad rap. I remember watching the game and all of sudden they switched to Heidi. Being a kid, I just figured the game was over and the Jets won. It wasn't until later that I found out about the controversy. BFD, the technology wasn't like today. Even if they could change back, by the time the Heidi intro was over, so was the game. GreenMachine had it right in is original post. This screw up woke up the networks and let them know where their bread was buttered. So in the end it was probably beneficial to all fans.
oh and i listened to you old arrogant rant champ. i googled the heidi game. i only looked at the first page so i probably didnt get to the conspiracy theory crap you talk about, but none of the articles say anything about being able to switch back to the game. the videos however all seem to say at some point that they could not switch back. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=heidi+game+nfl&btnG=Google+Search&aq=1&oq=heidi+game+ there is the link for you if you ever wanna brush up on your history even though you claim to have lived it.
