The thing I hate about taking on these nothing to lose teams is that you know they always will go for it on 4th and short and our defense will give it up to them. Also, it is pretty much a given that Seattle punter Jon Ryan will fake a punt on us. Jon has done it in the past and we seem to suck at stopping fake punts.
Yeah, those Seattle Seahags have really been playing hard for their HOF-bound coach during his swan song this season! Right? Wrong! Let's take a closer look at the Seahags this season, and see why the Jets will win on Sunday: They lost to Buffalo in the first week 34-10!!! (In Buffalo) Then they lost to SF 33-30 (in Seattle--BEFORE Singletary took that team over). Then... SOMEHOW... They beat St. Louis 37-13 (at home). Bye week, followed by a 44-6 beatdown by the Jints in New Jersey. Then Green Bay (always tough this year) beat 'em by ten in their own home. Tampa Bay was next, knocking 'em off in TB 20-10. They got their revenge against those nasty 49ers in Week 8, 34-13. (Was this the game that got Nolan fired? I'm not sure...) Philly beat 'em--in Seattle--26-7! Miami won in Miami 21-19. Arizona beat the 'Hags in their backyard 26-20. Then the Deadskins beat these losers in Seattle 20-17. The next week, the Seahags got their butts whipped by the 'Boys in Dallas 34-9... On Dec. 7, New England beat them 24-21. And last week, Seattle beat St. Louis IN St. Louis 23-20. Folks, this is a team that has learned how to lose. They got NOTHING LEFT for their coach, who is heading out the door. NOTHING! And since they won last week, I sincerely doubt they'll pose a threat to the desperate and tenacious (yes, I said tenacious) JETS. Although it's possible that the Jets could lose this Sunday, I don't see it happening. I've seen too many Jets teams that have gone through a season like the Seahags are suffering to believe they have much of a shot. This is a public service announcement for all Jets fans who are worried about this weekend's game.
I'm not into superstitions. I think it's more coincidence than anything that we've lost a few games on the west coast.
I think there is a revenge factor here you guys may not realize: Favre's Packers have knocked Seattle out of the playoffs twice in the last 5 years (2007. 2003), both times blowouts, both times essentially riding Favre's arm. This might be seen as a chance to pay him back?
Oh yeah. I stand corrected, I must have been thinking of the regular season game in between the two. How could I ever forget the famous Matt Hasselbeck OT coin flip "We'll take the ball, and we're going to win!" game!
Just one thing bothers me: the Jets have played 2 games this year against really terrible teams. They barely beat the Chiefs and they lost to the Raiders. I think this is a scary game.
Yeah i got that gut feeling about this game too. I think we may see a whole new team this weekend. A team playing up to their level and not down to someone elses.
Not true. They also played the Bengals (26-14 Jets), and you might be able to call the Bills a bad team (Jets swept 'em)... The Cardinals might be called a "bad" team (Jets beat 'em 56-35)... And do not forget the St. Louis Rams! (Jets won, 47-3.)
Here's what I see... ...out of their last 6 games, 5 of those games came down to a TD or less to win/tie the game. That to me says these guys aren't playing to lose. Those teams were Miami (9-5) , Arizona (8-6), Redskins (7-7), New England (9-5), and the Rams (2-12). With 4 of those teams being at .500 or above and we're NOT playing like Dallas. So, I don't know why you think they will just roll over and hand us a win.
