I don't believe Brett can throw 20 yard outs. At all. I have seen 10-20 rocket deep passes from Favre this year... He's actually looked exactly like Chad all year long except way more turnovers.

You can think that way, but here is what I believe. I expected Mangini to show some balls to everyone in the AFC East & to the rest of League that the Jets are stoping being the "same old Jets" and start a brand new history. I expected him to go out on the field and have the attitude to destroy all their opponents on the schedule regardless if it's a soft schedule or a difficult one.

What I have is a scared man who can't play against a team that has the worst record in their division or the league its self. If we played the Detroit Lions this season I can promisie you the Jets would give them their one and only win this season, because Mangini's play calling has been crap against the weaker sides.

Belichick maybe an asshole, but one thing he's good at besides cheating, is an attitude to win and hungry for it. Eric forgot that part of the playbook. Look at Spagnola in Miami. Showed an attitude that Mangini hasn't against weaker opponents.

All I ask of him is this. Don't pump the boys up against our Divisional opponents or those big time teams in the NFL on the schedule or if those weak opponents are at home. You have to take out the weaker teams too and don't play down to their style. If they destroyed the St. Louis Rams who also have a crap record and did it at home, he should've used that same mentality against Oakland, San Francisco & Seattle out on the west coast.

If there is to be any joy in Mudville after this coming Sunday, it has to be the Bills hosting the Pats and finding a way to win, so the Jets will have a chance later in the day. But regardless of what happens against Miami Win, Lose, or Draw he should be fired period. I'm tired of seeing a streak of yellow on the back of his green jacket going from his neck down to his (_|_).

Lol scared man...yea he can beat the best teams in the league but since he fucked up against the lesser ones he's scared.

And how exactly do you "use the same mentality?" What if we DID use the same mentality, but we didn't get the same execution? Unless you guys are implying that he didn't...want to beat the lesser teams?

At the beginning of the year, I saw alot of 10-11 win predictions...now they suck because fans didn't think to realize that predicting 10-11 wins means that some losses...and yes...bad looking losses..would happen.

I think you guys get yourselves too down with this stuff. I can't believe we've got one game left against our long standing rival with a shot to get in the playoffs...and theres more threads talking about what we should do after we lose the game/have nothing but this game go our way on Sunday.

The point is that at 8-3 and looking at the remaining schedule I absolutely expected the Jets to be better than 10-6.

I guess I didn't necessarily expect the Jets to have a good record this year but I at least expected them to show up on the field and try, which they have not done in more games this season than is acceptable.

really? so, when the team was 8-3 off of back-to-back wins against the Pats and Titans, you felt 10-6 was the appropriate expectation? no wonder you are easy to please, you have extremely low expectations.

call me crazy, but when we were 8-3, 11 wins was the minimal to define a successful season. It doesn't matter what expectations were before he season, this was a new season with a lot of new players. what we think about them befor ethey ever play a game is irrelevant. but once the season starts and you see what the team is capable of, that is the only way to come to any reasonable expectation, and 10-6 or 9-7 wasn't it.

I find it ironic that most people here blast preseason power rankings and predictions, and yet you some of you then are actually content on simply satisfying how you felt about he team in the preseason. kind of hypocritical.

I agree 100%. After beating Tennessee 12-4 was plausible. To lose 3 of 4 to bad teams. Well nuff said.

At the beginning of the season I would have said that our team would have been about 8-8 or 9-7 at season's end. When we were sitting at 8-3 and looking at the upcoming schedule it looked like (on paper) we would finish at least 11-5. What is happening now is just the product of a poor west coast swing. Things just did not go our way. We are still having a decent season! I want to get into the playoffs and make a run very badly. All we can do is win our game this weekend. It's the only thing that we can control. Let's just hope that the Bills can win as well (I hate saying that). I still say that we should get a new HC and OC and have the QB work together with these coaches to perfect an outstanding offense. If it's Favre that's great, but if it's not then I hope that our next QB is the one that we have been looking for!

When we hit 8-3, after beating the Titans and Pats back to back, you bet your ass I thought we'd be better then 10-6. We had an extremely weak schedule after those games and folded big time. Its been awful to watch us make also rans look like world beaters after knocking off the 11-0 titans.

The scary thing is we could end up 10-6 like 85 % of the people on this board predicted us going aswell as myself but still miss the play-offs because the emergence of the hated Dolphins. So no your right , I didn't think we would be better then 10-6. 10-6 is what i thought we would be and it could be we were all right and still miss the play-offs. Still stabbing ourselves in the balls.

If we finish 10-6 then so do the Phins and we'd have the better division record. It would be the Pats that play spoiler if they win against Buffalo..

Yes he was scared. He knew what would happen if this team didn't win those easy games. I expected the trap game against the Broncos. I thought they could take out both the niners & seahawks.

Then explain to me why teams like the Steelers & the Cowboys have the mentallity to go on the field regardless who is on their schedule and easily defeat them. Look at the Giants as well. No matter who was on their schedule they want to destroy them. Where is that mentallity from Mangini in the last three games?

I knew there would be bad losses, but disgusting losses shouldn't be added either. Everyone said 10 or 11 wins & your probably one of those people that screamed Super Bowl Subway Series when the record was 8-3. I know I didn't

You never read my posts did you. I said either the Jets win or lose, fire him anyway. I want them to beat the Dolphins, but either way fire Mangini a.s.a.p.

So did I. They didn't. They aren't the first team to lose games they shouldn't...the '06 Pats lost to us remember?...I don't see how that means anyone is scared.

    They're all better teams?

Most of their rosters have spent years together?

The Cowboys had a bad stretch this year too, and might miss the playoffs because of it.

The Giants early season loss was to the Browns...on national TV, no less.

I don't think desire should be questioned, because no team or coach wants to lose. I do realize it will be questioned because...well it's an easy thing to get mad at when a team sucks for a few games.
No. I prefer not to take myself on an emotional roller coaster ride over the course of a season.

And the difference between a bad loss and a disgusting loss is the words...it's a loss in the end...no style points allotted.

You might recall that after your stirring thread right before the season started I said that you had convinced me to raise my prediction from 9 wins to 10 wins, so no, a 10-6 record isn't a surprise to me. I understand, of course, that when they were 8-3 the expectations went up, but that might have been unrealistic of all of us - included in the 8 wins at that time were bad wins over Cincinnati and KC and bad losses to Oakland and San Diego. I never thought that the Jets were going to win 12 or 13 games (even at 8-3), but I admit that I'm surprised that they're not 10-5 right now.

When we were 10-6 2 years ago with little talent, then 2 years pass and we spend $140 million dollars in the offseason to fill in all our holes, including a HOF QB, you bet I expect more than 10-6! I was expecting a 13 win season, and when we were 8-3 and rolling I thought it was gonna happen. Unless this team gets in, then WINS in the playoffs, this season is a complete and utter failure.

I did expect the jets to be better than a 10-6 team this season lol especially after the jets beat the titans on the road.

I think you make a great point. Bottom line is many of us drank the kool-aid after the Titans game and it was a huge let down after that. This team isn't that good. We are vastly improved over last year but not ready to move to that next level. We have shown flashes of greatness and flashes of non-greatness. Winning against all type of competition is the sign of a great team and over the last four games this team showed us they aren't ready for that. Favre is no superman and if you told me we would be 9-7 or 10-6 the day after favre signed I would probably have signed for it after last years 4 win season. Its the way we finished that killed it.

I am hoping for a miracle tomorrow because I feel our same old jets mentality rubs off on the players. A win and a playoff birth could boost the spirit of this team. A loss could carry over and be tough to break going into next year.
