Juuuussssttt a little overboard. He should be something once he gets himself healthy though, just needs to work on his game like you said.

Speaking of TE's too, a few guys that were TE's moving down to FB/HBack that are intriguing. Namely, Tulsa's Garrett Mills (who the draft mags are in love with) and Dave Thomas from Texas. Both could be serious players in that Chris Cooley mold if given a shot there.

I like those two players, especially Mills, but one comes to wonder exactly what role the hback plays in Schot's system. I would love Mills though, but with Askew already on the roster, a blocking back might be the bigger need here

because in those three years he has shown absolutely nothing that would lead anyone to beleive that he can be a starter in this league.

Agreed. But if he had shown anything whatsoever in training camp or practice through the years I am sure that people would be talking about him. Hell, Sowell put in his time on ST and is the Jets all time ST tackler. I am not saying that Askew should beat him because that does not qualify you as a solid FB but, Sowell had the drive and the will to succeed, it was evident by how hard he went on ST.

Askew was an odd pick at the time, and it really seems to me that he was a wasted one. For him to show nothing in three seasons, or to hear nothing about him from the CS tells me that we would not be wrong to draft a FB and have Askew compete with him.

You can honestly tell me that you would be confident with Askew in their on opening day.

I really like BJ Askew and I would feel quite comfortable with him being the starter. We all know he is a pretty talented runner for his size...

He never had much of a chance to play because of Sowell. Now that he is gone and now that BJ has had alot of time to learn...I fully expect him to become a good starter.

Hey, didn't we draft some dummy FA rookie or something? Does he suck?

the only problem with bernstein is that he is too injury prone and very slow.

Bernstein is perfect for Fb. Hey who knows maybe Mangini uses him as a lb pass rusher on special sitiuations like the Pats use Vrabel as a receiver.

Having a sports hernia does not make you Injury Prone. Please clarify your statement about him and his injuries.

Do you think Lorenzo Neal or Mack Strong run 4.5's? No they dont, he has adequate speed to get to the line backers.

    As for PennyandtheJets....

I guess that comes down to a difference of opinion then, I know Bryan Thomas had ample time to learn his position from the bench and he never really amounted to shit. I also would not call him a solid runner. I dont think we should be basing what he can do for the run game in the NFL based on his numbers four years ago in college. I just dont think this guy can step up and fill the void. I would be much happier with a draft pick who was productive as a FB in college then a RB turned FB

Askew hasn't been any model of health either, and he is more of the pass catching type of FB Sowell and Anderson are. It depends on what Schotty wants to do on offense.... if he wants to run a clone of the SD offense, we need a big blocking FB.
