I know it's early and I've seen some suggestions in other threads, but I'm curious if anyone knows officially where our picks are in each round (or to the extent we have no picks at all in a particular round).
Yes. 1st round- BUST 2nd round- BUST 3rd Round- injured in camp: out for season 4th round- gets arrested 5th round- gets cut
sarcasm? ok, but i'll give the history of the Jets picks 1st round usually a bust pre-Tannenbaum. 2nd round starts for 2 years and then is a JAG that people begin to hate. 3rd round is a backup player 4th round is where all the gems are found 5th round - practice squad.
i'll bet money that Tanny will do some trading to get the guy they want. They seem to always have "a guy" they trade up for and he's always a stud. (We traded up in the 1st for Revis and Keller)
Sarcasm is all I have in me.... besides pain, disappointment and heartache.... Ah, to be a fan of this team.....
No, we got a 4th rounder and drafted Lowery with it. I believe he's already met some sort of clause in the trade to upgrade that to a 3rd according to some people or a link I haven't bothered to find. In order to get the upgrade to a 3rd, we'd have to give them a 4th from this year. Same with an upgrade to a 2nd in the unlikely event that your hero Mike Tannenbaum's ridiculous gamble pays off.
Interesting, well, he's a very good GM. I supported the Vilma trade because he didn't seem comfortable in the 3-4 and then subsequently blew out his knee. Get over the overblown head coaching 'fiasco'. Everyone is pretty happy with Rex Ryan. He actually wants to be here, unlike Bill Cowher.
Yeah vilma was way over rated not an impact player no picks sacks or turnovers. Hes just good not great.
abyz: How can you complain about the job Tannenbaum has done? He inherited a messy situation from Bradway and put together a team that is strong at nearly every position. QB- Clemens and Ainge- Remains to be seen. RB- Thomas Jones and Leon Washington- Good tandem WR- Cotchery, Coles, Clowney, Stuckey, Smith- The first two are Pre-Tannenbaum guys. Clowney and Stuckey have potential. Smith's nothing special. He hasn't brought us that big play guy... yet. TE- Keller, Baker, Franks- Keller looks like an EXCELLENT pick. He has the potential to be a premier TE for years to come. He kept Baker, which was a good move. Franks is whatever. T- DBrick, Woody- DBrick made strides last year and was one of the better tackles in football, at least in terms of sacks allowed. Woody was pretty good too. G- Faneca, Moore- Moore was here before Tannenbaum got here, but hes solid and hes kept him. Faneca was a great signing after the only disaster of his tenure- how he handled the Pete Kendall situation. DE- Ellis, Coleman- Not impressive here. Hasn't really made his mark on this position yet. DT- Jenkins, Pouha- Jenkins was awesome last year, though he wasn't as productive at the end, maybe due to an injury. Still worth the pick we gave up for him and then some. Pouha's alright, but nothing special. A fine backup. LB- Harris, Thomas, Gholston, Barton, Pace- David Harris was a really great pick. Calvin Pace looked really good last season and seems to be worth the money. Barton and Thomas are Bradway holdovers. He gave Thomas an extension, and that may not have been a great move but we'll see. The book is still out on Gholston. If he doesn't deliver under Ryan and Pettine, he's a bust. S- Kerry Rhodes, Elam, Coleman- Rhodes is an all pro and will probably be great in Ryan's system. He hasn't been able to find a solid player to compliment him yet. CB- Revis, Lowery, Coleman, Law- Revis is a Top 3 CB. Lowery showed flashes last year but isn't ready yet. He needs to find a solid NFL-ready CB to compliment Revis for 2009. So there you have it. This team has a lot of strengths and the players who are responsible for it being a strength are largely of Mike Tannenbaum's doing. If you saw the roster we had when he took over and compared it to what we have now, you would see what a difference he has made. Quit the illogical hating, please.
This team is flowing water under the bridge at this point. It looks like we have a lot of talent but really we have about a dozen players likely to make an impact on the roster in 3 years. We'll look back at Tannenbaums's tenure and see it as an extension of the weak Bradway era in terms of the talent it actually put on the roster. I see this team as likely the third place team in the AFC East for the forseeable future. This assuming that Buffalo continues to underachieve badly as they have done for the last few years.
