Steelers: 2007 Home Game: Steelers-16 Jets-19 OT Kellen Clemens' first career win. Great game played by the Jets' defense. Huge upset for team that was coming into the game at (1-8). Cardinals: 2008 Home Game: Cardinals-35 Jets-56 Brett Favre threw 6 touchdown passes for the first time in his career. The Jets defense completely dominated Kurt Warner and the Cardinals offense in the first half. 34-0 at halftime. Are the Jets better than these two teams? Probably not Pittsburgh, I would say yes to Arizona. The point is the Jets are not that far away from the Super Bowl. If the Giants and Cardinals can do it, why not Gang Green? It also shows this year's Super Bowl is kind of weak.
That Pittsburgh game was fun, especially winning in the faces of the 40,000 or so Steeler fans in our stadium. The Arizona game was fun too, but September wins are September wins. I wish Favre had saved three of those TDs for one of the December games.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have a Number One Receiver in Holmes and a Great Number 2 in Hines Ward. We have no receiver on our roster that could take on that kind of pressure in the final two minutes of a game. I'm not saying our receivers are chopped liver by any means, but I'm talking about the consistency to get open and make yac is what we are lacking. The Steelers Defense has been consistent for years, and they haven't fallen off, but just add or replace when needed. They hardly miss much of a beat. The Cardinals have Top Notch Receivers. Neither one of our receivers are as good theirs. Warner always had the skills and he finally found a place where everything lined up. The Cardinals also played in a very weak division so that helped them tremendously this season, but they still have probably the best tandem of receivers in the league and it helps. The Coaches in our division are tough. Those AFC Match-Ups will mean more and more with each season, because the Dolphins will get better, and you know Bellichick will always make things happen. We are gonna have to be damn good in order to win, and we need to get dominant in a few areas if we are going to be serious.
We couldn't even make the playoffs against one of the weakest schedules in the league. You're day-dreaming.
Parity rules! The Jets are officially SB contenders for next season, just like every other team in the league.
Easily the most fun I've had at a Jets game. The Steeler fans were everywhere and I had some stupid bitch waving that stupid fucking towel in my face the entire game. This other guy in front of us was a total jerkoff the entire game talking shit. When Nugent made the kick we told him to go fuck himself and get out of our stadium. Highlight of the day though was stomping all over a terrible towel on the spirals.
We had a Steeler fan kid in front of us, about 13 or 14--you know, that fun age. He couldn't even fathom the idea that Pittsburgh might not win, we kept hitting him over the head with those styrofoam Jet things they handed out that day, every time we made a play. The end of that game was awesome when we won. The season was so far gone by then that you're just living in the moment, even if the game didn't help us at all. That was as good as it gets.
6-0, I was actually at that one too. That was also a fun time. The snow would not stop falling and the drunks tumbling out of the stadium into snow and ice was awesome.
I am sure you are right on the score... i mighta had a FEW extra drinks that day.... I seem to remember Curt going OFF!! Like 170+ yards rushing.....
The Jets just need better coaching and better in game adjustments. They have potential to succeed in 2009.
It was a good day for the older guys because the snow neutralized the speed of the younger guys. Mo Lewis and Marvin Jones looked like they turned the clock back 8 years, Curtis was breaking off long runs. Love the avatar, too, I'm just getting into watching that show.
ahhh, the Shittsburgh game... I basically had to bolt Jet-O to the seat to make her stay. When it was over, she wouldn't leave!! lol.. I try not to curse when kids sit around the seats but that day my potty mouth got the best of me. When the game was over I basically looked at the tons of Shittsburgh and just screamed ... "All of you....... GET THE FUCK OUT OF OUR HOUSE!!!!""" Felt soooooooooooooo good......
174 to be exact. Dan Rooney complained about the snow and how the Jets didn't try to clean up the field. Fuck Dan Rooney. It's funny how his team now has the worst field in the league.
