who the hell in their right mind would trade one of the best young qbs in the league...His ceiling is so high, id be upset too
I'm assuming they got the phone calls because McDaniels worked with Cassell in New England, so some other teams figured it be worth a shot to try prying out Cutler. No harm, no foul.
Am I the only that thinks Cutler is a much better QB than Cassel and still has more upside. I would be very hesitant to trade away a talent like cutler for cassel. I am eager to see how Cassel does without Belicheck and one of the best recieving cores in the league. Don't get me wrong it's a great deal for KC because they don't have much to lose but I still think Cassel is very unproven in another system.
nice way to start off your tenure in Denver, McDaniels.... IMO, the fact that McDaniels tried for Cassel makes me wonder if McDaniels' brain is located a couple inches north of his colon....Cutler is by FAR the better QB.....and Cassel is a product of the system he played in NWE......i don't think it was worth upsetting the Denver fans and Cutler for a "flash in the pan".
I pop a boner at the thought of Cutler being put on the trade block. If I'm Tannenbaum I'm calling Denver and starting with the 17th pick overall.
Mort said that the Patriots actually turned down an offer that would have sent Jay Cutler to Bucs, Matt Cassel to the Broncos and the Pats receiving a 1st round pick from the Broncos 12th overall and a 3rd ether going to the Broncos or the Pats. Pioli got a huge discount.
Mort's usually full of shit and exists only to stir the pot so ESPN can analyze shit that never actually happened.
no way, the broncos would have traded jay cutler for matt cassel straight up basically? comon, NOONE believes that, maybe if they got cassel+ bucs first round pick and the pats got bucs 2010 first rounder
Cutler needs to shut the fuck up and realize that he is a commodity whose only real value is production. If the Broncos didn't consider an offer because they were afraid of "sending the wrong message" they would be being themselves a disservice. More importantly and as stated earlier, they fielded calls for him; he wasn't been shopped around. If he is so upset maybe he should take his game to the elite level that so many say he's capable of achieving and make the thought of trading him a joke. Ironically the bigger story out of this is his reaction to it.
