I agree. I like what the Jets are doing. It's not like we are throwing a ton of money at Neil O'Donnell ....first game with 5 TD's v. the Seahawks and then all down hill from there. Signing older players helps......love the story of Parcells with Bryan Cox and the gas tank. Plenty of players on our team.....looking forward to some more signings and a good draft.
i think i read that same post somewhere else. oh wait, here it is from the cleavland browns site: Right now, it's all about setting up the system - we have an ex-Jet playing with each unit of our defense: line, linebackers, and secondary. Smart moves by the front office and Mangini
Those wisecracks are downright silly because just about every head coach brings some of his old players to his new team.
We needed dline depth very badly so this is a fantastic signing. I wish I could find that Raven fan that was bitchin at me that we won't sign any Ravens. Hehe where is he at now? edit: speaking of terms, not sure how exactly reliable it is but wiki has the Leonhard signing as a 3 year 6 million dollar deal.
Good signing - cheap, experienced player who knows Ryans system - but we still need a backup NT for Jenkins
Not to be that guy, but i was the first to post the idea and i would like the credit for the post, thank you and good day
It woulg seem to me Ryan is meanining what he say;s abiut being a top defensence in the NFL period. He;s going for it now! Look at5 all the mioves he's made a KNOW that he's is GOING FOR IT NOW ! ALL DEFENSE!, we are also in need of a TE We will beyond a doubt be draftinf a QB and a WR and yes we need a TE. It's on baby! Love the moves Ryan has made...he is serious bout it bout it! Love That Ryan!
For Sale: Original Neil O'Donnell Bobble head! BestOffer1 Yes, I too am loving these signings. May take a year, but Hot-Damn of Defense is gonna' rock! All the Mock Drafts have us taking a WR in round one. Nice year coming up mates!
I don't think it's out of the question that we spend a 1st day pick on a corner, even in the first if one they like falls to us at 17. With them still pursuing Ivy, I think they still want to bolster the CBs, which doesn't bode well for Lowery but will probably help him progress faster. I think Ryan wants to make our biggest weakness on D last year into a strength immediately.
I agree. Also, Sheppard is still a question mark as to whether he can stay healthy and his contract and trade were done in a way that could easily make him a FA next season. There's almost no way we're giving up that 2nd round pick.
I'm on board with this. I don't want to see our defense disappear the moment Jenkins runs out of gas. If we'd had good NT depth, we probably would have made the playoffs.
well his system recquires great man to man cover corners. allows him to do all of the switched fronts and multiple blitzes so well. which is why im also a fan of taking another CB or S in rd 1 or 2 also. god forbid one of our CB's goes down. or one doesnt pan out. nothing dumb about having quality and quantity. but atop my draft wish list is Jeremy Maclin and Hakeem Nicks, then id say Vontae Davis(CB mentioned by an earlier poster) or Jarron Gilbert EDIT: original post, great pickup solid vet, will help other players with the system transition.
That did seem to be a problem toward the end of the season, didn't it? Seemed like, as went Jenkins, so went the DEF. I don't want to se that this year. I love what Kris brings to the table and when he's on, he's a terror. But all I know is, the DEF was visibly not the same whenever he took a spell, and there were times when he was in there even (but out of gas), that the DEF still gave up far too much. I don't think Ryan is going to be down with that at all.
