These O's have been making some solid moves this offseason. If they play well, 4th place is not just a dream in the AL East. I hope Matt Weiters gets a chance to start this year. He has a great future ahead of him Brian Roberts and Nick Markakis are solid players to build around. The Pitching is not that great, but Jeremy Guthrie is a pretty good pitcher. Chris Ray and George Sherrill highlight an okay bullpen. The O's are heading in the right direction I believe, unfortunately they are in the wrong division. Okay, who is making the Blue Jays thread?
I'll say 7 and not count the 2 we just posted. I have all year to post 7 serious posts in this thread, so its doable. Difficult though.
I'll be pulling for Orioles to finish 4th. I love when the Blue Jays suck I'm surrounded by their sunshiner fans everywhere I go.
haha Yeah I am. I did it as a joke because when I first clicked the baseball forum the first 2 threads were 2009 Red Sox and 2009 Rays. I just assumed people were making AL East team threads. The Blue Jays are still available if you want to start it.
When I was a kid the Orioles were my favorite team. Then at about 4 or 5 my dad took me to Memorial Stadium to see them play the Royals who had guys like Willie Wilson, Frank White and George Brett at the time. I remember as a kid thinking the stadium was a dump and I stopped rooting for them because I didn't like the stadium. I've since been to Camden Yards a few times and loved it but I could never get the bad memories of Memorial out of my mind. I'm obviously a Mets fan and since moving to the left coast the Angels have sort of become my 2nd team but deep down inside I'll always root for the Orioles to do well. It appears that Aneglos is finnaly understanding he can't outspend the Yankees and Sox but needs to develop a system. Getting rid guys like Tejada and some of the other high priced guys was brilliant. I think Markakis and Adam Jones are a great young OF and the nucleas is there to build around. Now only if they can find some pitching they may be allright.
I went to Memorial as a kid, the last year it existed. I had a similar experience too. I saw the Mariners with Griffey, A-Rod, Randy Johnson, etc. I was like, I like these Mariners. Became a Mariners/Yankees fan, then dropped the Mariners after Griffey left. Now he is back though. Hmm.
