First we get the news about PSLs - OK, after the initial "burn", I've accepted the situation. Who really thought that after the announcement of a new stadium, that PSLs weren't coming! Breathing room comes when we find out the entire upper level will have no PSLs, but seat selections go on seniority. I was willing to give up my 3rd row endzone seats for non PSL seats, but it looks like 12 years wont cut it. Next, I find out that if I only make a non PSL seat selection and none of those seats are available I'm S.O.L. I would have thought that after being a current season ticket holder, I'd go to the top of the wait list for a non PSL seat. Wrong! If non PSL seats are unavailable when they get to you and you don't purchase a PSL seat, you're gone forever, unless you reapply and put your name on the wait list all over again. That's not speculation either, that's fact - right from the ticket office!

Now today, I hear all the B.S. about training camp. How in the world do you spent 75 million on a brand new state of the art training complex, and then less than a year after being opened, decide that you don't want to hold camp there? We as fans feel the brunt of this 75 million complex in the form of increased ticket prices, PSLs, and unbelievable concession prices just to name a few. Now the team is going to spend even more money by renting/leasing space from another university in upstate NY for camp. Someone please explain to the front office how to run a business....

Sorry to vent here, but I just felt it needed to be said.

Agree on your feelings. I own 4 uppers that will probably be available. The cost to rent a facility elsewhere will definitely be somehow someway charged to the fans. Woody Johnson bought a business not a football team.

Personally, i'm happy about the move to upstate ny. I'll finally be able to go to camp without having to drive 8 hours..

But i do understand your feelings about the PSLs.

I believe if they charge admission, then scouts from other teams are able to attend camp -- I remember that being an issue when Dan Snyder tried to charge admissions. I doubt they will.

You're right about Hofstra - they never charged admission and parking was free. You were allowed to take still photos with a camera, but video was a different story. I remember the first time I ever went and had a camcorder with me. I was close to where the special teams were practicing and I started to shoot some video of the punters and place kickers. Wow, what a mistake. Wish I had known. I almost got booted so fast it was unbelievable. They made me take it back to my car. I couldn't even have it with me!

How would charging admission have anything to do with a scout from another team attending training camp?

Free or admission anyone can enter and watch.

you're right, that is absurd. i didn't know the thing about if you want a non psl seat and there are none left, you still lose your seat. thats friggin bull shit. i feel for you dude. I used to have season tickets before they got way too expensive for me. i still go to half the games...especially now with the PSLs, ebay is your best friend.

Don't think scouts are allowed to attend as things stand.

No, they can't. If the practice is free, other teams are not allowed to send scouts or other personnel, but if an admission fee is charged they can. The Redskins did it in 2000, and then realized the error of their ways.

The PSL's are a sports issue, not just the Jets. And Ryan wants to split town and wants them to focus so why is that the jets front offices fault and when are you gonna jump out the window. You had it with the front office????????????? Does the draft and free agency matter also, or just where the coach decides to hold camp. Just wanted to start a thread and nothing creative to post huh

No kidding huh? And if he thinks the current FO stinks, maybe he should have watched the Jets play in Shea! Those were the bad years, freezing my b*lls off with the damn wind and planes overhead! Even the Hot Dogs froze by the time you got to your seat. Sigh, .... but at least they were still in NY, and for that we braved a crappy stadium built for the olympics and not baseball or football.

Shea Stadium was not built for the Olympics - it was the second multipurpose stadium in the US built for both baseball and football (D.C. Stadium in Washington was the first). Such stadia became more common through the rest of the 60s and into the 70s (Riverfront, Veteran's, Three Rivers, etc.)

If New England filmed what makes anyone think a team wouldnt send guys dressed as fans to another teams training camp? Im confused. Saying its not allowed isnt stopping anyone from doing it.

An Upstate NY training camp will be good for the Jets. Increase their fanbase and even pick up some on-the-fence Bills fans. Can't speak on the PSLs though.

The Giants, taking advantage of an obscure National Football League rule, sent scouts daily to the training camp practices of the Redskins this summer, accumulating dozens of pieces of useful information.

The data ranged from getting solid looks at potential free agents, to picking up individual player tendencies. A small amount of that information, according to a Giants coach who did not want to be identified, has been incorporated into the team's game plan against Washington on Sunday night.

The Redskins were required to open their summer practices to other team's scouts because they charged fans for admission. By doing so, the team opened the door to the vault, and the Giants, a bitter division opponent, said, thank you very much.

''They opened up practices, and we went,'' said Ernie Accorsi, the Giants general manager. ''I don't know how much you get from it, but I know there were a lot of little individual ingredients, and sometimes those individual things all add up.''

The Giants, off to a 3-0 start, did not break any league rules by sending scouts to the Redskins' Ashburn, Va., training camp facility.

This season, Washington became the first team to charge fans admission to training camp, which amounted to $10 for admission and another $10 for parking. The team owner, Daniel Snyder, initiated the charges as a way to offset the millions of dollars he paid for stadium improvements.

But by charging fans, the Redskins also opened themselves to their competition. A little-used league rule states that any team that makes fans pay to watch training camp can be scouted during that time by opposing teams. Usually, clubs are forbidden from sending scouts or other personnel to any team practice at any time during the season.

To opponents of the Redskins, it was suddenly a feast. It is believed that every team in the league sent scouts to Washington's practices this summer. The Giants, whose hard-working scouts may put in the longest hours in the league, were among the most aggressive. The Giants scouted every Redskins' practice, gathering what the team believes to be useful information.

I agree with you. The off-season can't end quick enough. Most teams do the same exact thing with training camp. If the Jets were to keep it at their new complex there would be no public access since there are no seats or bleachers. At least if they move it to a college or similar it will be open to the public. The Eagles do the exact same thing here every summer, they bring the team to Lehigh University (away from their brand new complex) and let the public come in.

I was at the Eagles training camp last year when the guy sitting next to me broke out his camcorder. Holy crap, the amount of security guards that popped up instantly was insane. I damn near head my head taken off when they swarmed to grab this guy. It scared the heck out of my nephew whom I had taken along.

If they relocate training camp, so be it. I'm just bewildered why they would spent 75 million on a new complex and not make it conducive to hold training camp. One would think all these things would've been thought about before it was built. Also, one last note on the PSLs. Anyone contemplating purchading a PSL, I am sure is well aware of the fact that the PSL is only good for the time that they play in this new stadium. What you may or may not be aware of, is that although it's a highly unlikely scenario, either team (Jets and Giants) have the option to opt out of the new stadium after 15 years.
