Report: Rams bought ticket for Sanchez to come Sunday Steve Wyche of NFL.com reports the Rams have bought a plane ticket for Mark Sanchez to come to St. Louis on Sunday. http://blog.theredzone.org/ViewItem.asp?Entry=1153 Sorry if already reported, So hopefully we get QUINN!
This info comes from a blog, that isn't exactly espn.com or nfl.com, I'll see it when I believe it. But man, I hope it's true, I don't want us trading up for nothing!!!!!!!!!!
http://blogs.nfl.com/2009/04/24/rams-buy-sunday-plane-ticket-for-qb-sanchez/ Things have been overly crazy today, with information overload that entails a lot of deciphering and massaging. I am in St. Louis at Rams Park for the draft this weekend, and chatter has been flying all over the place. One thing that could be legit or be a ploy (it is interesting, if nothing else): The Rams, who hold the No. 2 overall pick in the draft, have purchased a plane ticket for USC QB Mark Sanchez to fly from Los Angeles to St. Louis on Sunday, when the team plans to introduce its top selection. While the Rams have bought a ticket (hopefully, it’s refundable), they might not select Sanchez. The thinking emanating from a lot of folks around here is that St. Louis will select Baylor OT Jason Smith. The Rams need to find a left tackle to replace veteran Orlando Pace, who was released in a cost-cutting move. The Rams could be trying to generate some trade interest in keeping Sanchez’s name out there, but for a team that has won just five games in two seasons, drafting wisely would be prudent, to say the least. Nonetheless, the plane ticket for Sanchez is intriguing. – Steve Wyche
Just heard on sirius nflradio that this would be illegal if indeed St. Louis bought him a ticket. So my guess is they are not that dumb and did not buy a ticket.
WOW... I can't believe the hype sanchez has got the past three weeks.. yeah he put up great numbers.. but someone with a football IQ as high as his in an offense as explosive as USC's.. its not that hard to do.. (Leinart).. I'm not saying he isn't good.. and I'm definitely not saying that with time to get use to the NFL he won't be great.. but three weeks ago he was projected to picked up by the Jets at 17 only because they needed a QB... now.. if this report is true.. and thats a HUGE IF based on where this is coming from.. he becomes the second player off the board..
JetsFan still has the best avatar... I received an email newsletter from the Jets website tonight, and the lead article was about how someone feels Sanchez will not be worth the high pick. Why would they sanction an article like that if they i fact hoped to make him our future? I say we do not do it.
He was projected at 17 before he worked out. Every team that saw him workout at his pro day and/or at private workouts has been impressed by what they've seen from the kid.
I say pull the dam trigger or stay home! If they feel he is that good and the franchise QB of the future, them get him, 1st this year and our 1st next year. We paid a MUCH higher price for Robertson; two higher 1st rounders and a 4th for a bust. Just stop f@cking around and show some balls, or be smarter and keep the #17 and use a 2nd for Boldin.
This time last year I was hoping the Rams would trade out of the 2nd spot with the Jets so that the Jets could take the QB. This year? Not interested.
I call shenanigans based on the fact that the teams usually fly top picks back to team headquarters on their own private planes. Why would they buy him a ticket when they likely have an airplane waiting in NY?
