I have been to Jets/Saints games Giants/Saints games and several games of other teams playing Jets & Giants... What I have noticed is that the Jets fans party harder at the tailgate .. do not leave early (except when Miami is winning by 20+ in the 4th on Monday night)(but they come back when we tie it up).. The Giants fans start leaving the stadium late in the 3rd no matter what the score...

The Jets fans are way cooler to party with at the tailgate .. as long as your not a prick 90% of the jets fans will offer you a beer & a burger no matter what jersey your wearing.. 90% of the Giants fans try to be tough guys but then when you stand up to them they puss out...

The Jets fans are more of a blue collar group out to have a good time and enjoy the game.. Giants fans seem like a bunch of white collar weekend warrior tough guys pretending to be Jets fans..
of course this is a generalization and there are fans of all types on both sides but this is the overall feel from what I have seen going to games and knowing fans from both teams....

anyway .. I look forward to posting here and I hope my 1st thread gets some love from the regulars....

In reality, all fan bases are exactly the same. They feature smart fans, stupid fans, fairweather fans, and bandwagoners. Maybe the one thing that seperates NYJ fans from any other is the extreme pessimism and paranoia.

and until last year the complete and total lack of bandwagoners. really what the fuck kind of bandwagon was there to jump on? we cant say there are too many fairweather fans either, turns out the weather hasnt been too fair in about 40 years. i will say there are many smart and many stupid though :)

pessimism and paranoia what are those things you are talking about?

My "good" friend is a Giants fan and whenever I go over his billion dollar house, him and dad say how jet fans are scumbags and talk mad shit about Jets. I can't really say much because the Giants just won the superbowl, and the worse thing is I'm also a Mets and Knicks fan, while he likes Yankees. Also, I feel that most Jet fans like the Mets and the Giants fans all like the Yankees...

Jets fans are the best fans in the world because the Jets don't win and we stay loyal anyway. Cubs fans, too.

I know someone who lives very close to the Giants Stadium and has to deal with the extra traffic and hassle on game days. She was really surprised when the Gate D stuff came out, said its almost always the Giants fans who act like dicks.

I've said this before, Giant fans lay it on a little too thick. I'm talking about turning off the heat and opening up all the windows when you watch a playoff game on tv to "make it feel like your at the game". Your not at the game. If you want to feel like your at the game hire a bunch of college kids to leer at your daughter and challenge you to a fight while you are trying watch the game.

I think some of the stereotypes will change stating in 2010 when a lot of new fans will be getting season tickets for the first time. Giants went through their entire waitlist offering tickets to potential new fans, and the Jets will do the same. So, both sets of fans will have a chance to remake their images (....of course, that assumes that individual fans are cognizant of the collective image of the fanbase of which they're a part....and I doubt many do :)

    Go Jets!!!!

IV had a lot of exposure to Giants fans (Both brothers) and they are more pessimistic then any fans IV ever seen. They are even more critical of their team in winning seasons then we are in loosing seasons. If you?ve ever been to Bars that feature Giants games there?s usually a fight or two amongst their fan bases rather then the opposing fans that came to cheer against the Giants. I do hate the "we own the meadowlands" attitude thou and we're the real New York team.

I was there in 2006 Christmas Eve when we (Saints) spanked the shit out of the Giants... Someone threw a D battery at me after the Saints went up 3 scores and it hit the lady in front of me.... I turned around and challenged the coward who threw the battery but it got real quiet .. I said "come on down mother ****** be a man..... who threw the battery??" but no takers.... just a couple of muffled comments with hands in front of face "sit down"... I was standing in the isle with my arms outstretched "Throw a battery now bitch" but nothing.... security came rushing over to help the girl and shut me up... I was moved to another section... (better seats) and I dont know what happened to the girl...

I would think twice.. or maybe even three times before doing that at a Jets game..I would have a line in front of me of takers...

    Good for you.

In the NY area you go two problems, the ghetto people and the rich kids who think they are ghetto. I'll fight one of those right now, lets get a posse.

I don't know if it has anything to do with anything, but the so called *1st teams of NY* (Giants, Yankees, Rangers and Knicks) all share the same main color, blue that is, which also happens to be traditionally the color of right wing parties and Sec 227, Row 5's description of Giants fans fit the mold of their supporters perfectly.

    Just my 2 cents.

I can honestly say I hate the Giants worse than the Pats and Dolphins. I became a Jets fan when I was little because my older brother who is 10 years older than me was a hardcore Giants fan. Coincidentally ALL of my closest 8 or 9 friends are all hardcore Giants fans. Needless to say they are all my arch-nemesis come football season and we are at each others throats.

During the football season, the most important thing to me every week is the Jets winning of course, but the Giants losing is a very close second.

Ah yes...I can see it now. Section 227 gets his PSL-free Uppers and starts attending games in our new, shared, upscale, state-of-the-art stadium. Of course, I'll need to change my image.

First thing I'll do is start shopping at Nordstrom's. I'm thinking of a nice green sports jacket... you know, the kind they have at golf tournaments? That shouldn't set me back any more than, say, $400. Maybe some tan Tommy Bahama slacks at $180? A pair of brown wingtips would set the attire off nicely... green and tan argyle socks, of course.

I'm thinking I don't need a tie. After all, it IS a sporting event, right? But maybe a little green ascot would look pretty good. I don't know, perhaps I'll defer that to one of those wonderful sales clerks... they always seem to know what's appropriate.

And should I run into that same man and woman I ran into the last time we played the Giants and eliminated them from the playoffs, I think my tone has to be more upscale. Perhaps I was a bit harsh.

If we happen to beat them on that day and that same woman says to me, "Why did your Jets do that to us? You had nothing to lose and we were trying to get to the Superbowl again!" I'll just respond with, "I'm very sorry madam. Perhaps the team needs to be reprimanded and reminded of how important your team is."

Oh hell... that's just not me. I'll probably tell her, "Lady, you've got to be fucking kidding" again and then go out to the parking lot, change into my jeans and drink some beers to celebrate the victory!

I remember going to a Giants game once when I was sitting in the lower level, and this old guy no bs wearing a blue blazer and those kinds of hats that Tom Landry used to wear shows up with this clearly his daughter who's wearing a plaid skirt, a matching plaid beret, a white turtleneck sweater, and a blue blazer. You've got to be kidding me. The only thing was she was a hot blonde. But still, you'd never see that at a Jet game.

Red is the color associated with Republicans/Conservatives

I think the predominant NFL fan that goes to games is white trash. I go to a road Jets game every year and wear my Kerry Rhodes jersey and I run into more a** clowns than you can count. During the game I am very reserved and don't cause a stir but that doesn't stop the home fans. I was at the game in Jacksonville a couple of years ago and there was a Jets fan with three daughters all under ten sitting in front of me and neither of us was saying much but I couldn't tell you how many fans cursed and swore at us.

If you go to a college football game I would suggest the rivalries are twice as bitter but for the most part the cursing and acting a fool is thousands time less. I think for two reasons, alcohol and lack of education at NFL games.

I think next year I will not wear any gear to the game I go to because its not worth it and the last thing I want to do is get into a fight (to defend my team...please). I am there to enjoy my Jets period.

If she was a hot blonde we can overlook the pretensiousness. You should have excused yourself, struck up a conversation and politely asked her if her panties happened to be red and blue as well.

I remember once my friend who has Giants season tickets in the lower deck asked me to go to a Giants Bengals game. Well since I didn't really have too much interest in the game I drank my ass off and decided to root for the Bengals since I hate the Giants. By the second quarter I was drunk off my ass and everytime the Bengals scored I stood up and faced the whole section wearing my Jets jersey and chanted AFC AFC. Suffice it to say that friend has never asked me to go to a Giants game with him again.
