I wrote this preview for a Mets' forum I post at.

It's Not ALWAYS Sunny in Philadelphia

After the three-game series that was shortened to two following Sunday's rainout, the Mets left Philadelphia for a mere two-game series in Atlanta. While we traveled south to Atlanta, the Phillies traveled Southwest to St. Louis to take on the Cardinals.

They handled the Redbirds in the first game, 6-1. Their 6 runs game on 8 hits; Jayson F'n Werth had a two-run homer that brought the Temp with him, and the Temp later quad-slammed in Utley, "J-Rolls" (*vomit*) and some other assclown that takes 3-2 pitches with the bases loaded.

Game two was a slugfest with the Phillies winning again, 10 to 7. They had 15 freakin hits, but also let up 11.Two of their three most hateable OFers in the game homered; Victorino had a solo shot in the first and Werth had a three-run shot in the fifth. Wife-beating scumbag Brett Myers allowed 5 runs on 9 hits in 5.1 IP. Clay Condrey couldn't get through a full inning's relief, allowing a run on two walks and a hit while getting two outs. Madson came in and put out the fire and then tacked on a scoreless inning. Lidge allowed a single run in the bottom of the 9th, a home run to Albert Pujols.

Joe Blanton, the pitcher we missed due to the melting sky, threw six innings of one-run ball, allowing four hits and two walks with three strikeouts. But that's irrelevant, since we don't face him. I put it, though, because it was his first really good start this year and lowered his ERA to 6.61.

    Philly batters over the series:

Jimmy Rollins, SS raised his season batting average to .210, going 3 for 10.

Shane Victorino, CF had a good series, unfortunately, going 5 for 10 with three ribbies. He struck out four times and got caught stealing once.

Chase Utley, 2B had a hit and a walk in three plate appearances and made one errror in the field. He got the second game off for Miguel Cairo (lol).

Ryan Howard, 1B had a great series, going 3 for 5 with 3 walks and a grand slam. Whatever.

Jayson Werth, RF, and still a shithead, was 3 for 7 with 2 homeruns and 6 runs driven in.

Ra?l Iba?ez, LF, and picking up where Burrell left off against the Mets, cooled down and went 2 for 8 against StL pitching.

Pedro Feliz, 3B also cooled down a bit and hit 0 for 4 in the first game, but did go 2 for 5 with 2 runs batted in in the 2nd game.

Carlos Ruiz, C was 2 for 8, but he's not a good hitter anyway.

... and now the Mets' portion of this KTE.

Starting Game 1 is JOHAN SANTANA, the best SP evar.

In his career against Philly, he's 2-0 in 6 starts. 41 IP, 30 hits, 13 runs, 12 BB to 37 K. That's a 2.85 ERA and 1.01 WHIP as well as a .201 BAA, but this is over his career, not just current Phillies.

    Who's Hot against Santana:
    - Howard is 6 for 14 with 2 homeruns. .429/.500/.857/1.357.
    - Iba?ez has 12 hits in 34 at bats with 1 HR. .353/.395/.441/.836.
    - Werth (man, I really hate him) has gone 5 for 16 with a double and a homer. .313/.353/.563/.915.
    - Ruiz (sort of)is 3 for 7. That doesn't really count, I guess.

    Who's Not against Santana:
    Everyone else.
    - Rollins is 1 for 17 with a walk (.170 OPS).
    - Victorino is 1 for 12 with a homerun to boost his OPS (in comparison) to .417.
    - Utley is slightly better than Victorino at 3 for 18, also with a homerun and a .500 OPS.
    - Feliz has 3 hits in 19 at bats for a whopping .316 OPS.

Starting Game 2 is MIKE PELFREY, hoping to improve on his last two starts. Big Pelf has 5 starts against Philly (2-2) with a 4.28 ERA but a 1.57 WHIP. His last start was the 7-4 win over Philly a few days ago, in case you forgot. He went 5 and a third innings and allowed 7 hits and 4 walks (ouch) with no strikeouts (ouch), and made an error (this really makes him look bad), but only allowed three runs (redemption!). He also hit a batter; it was Chase Utley. He probably deserved it.

    Who's Hot against Big Pelf:
    - Dobbs is 5 for 9 with a double and a home run.
    - Howard isn't THAT hot, but he's 3 for 11 with 4 walks.
    - Rollins may be only hitting .250 against Pelfrey in 8 at bats, but one of the two hits is a home run.
    - Utley is 3 for 12 (.250) but with 2 home runs.
    - Victorino is 4 for 12 with 3 stolen bases. POS.

    Who's Not against Big Pelf:
    - Coste is 2 for 9.
    - Werth is 1 for 8. Pelfrey feels like the only Met to not get demolished by this shithead.

The rest really don't have that many at bats. Feliz is 2 for 4. Ibanez is 1 for 3. Ruiz is 1 for 4.

Matching up against Santana in Game 1 is Chan Ho Park. Chan Ho Park against Johan Santana. Really? If we don't win... come on, Mets. Come on. You can't not win this game easily. Come on. Don't do this to me. Or us. You get the point.

    Who's Hot against Chan Ho:
    - Beltran is 5 for 15 with a double and a home run.
    - Delgado has only had 5 at bats, but it's been with three hits, all extra bases (two doubles and a homer).
    - Reed is 3 for 12 (.250) with 2 doubles and 3 walks. Respectable enough at a .817 OPS.
    - Tatis is 7 for 12 with a double and 2 home runs.
    - Wright is 4 for 7 with 2 doubles.

    Who's Not against Chan Ho:

    - Sheffield is 2 for 12 and hopefully won't see the field at all ever again anyway.

Game two for Philly is the AA (ageless asshole) Jamie Moyer. Last time out against us, he didn't make it out of the 6th, allowing 5 runs on 7 hits and 4 walks. Murphy and Castro each homered against him.

    Who's Hot against Moyer:
    - Delgado loves Moyer, seeing as he is 31 for 81 (that's .383) with a 1.222 OPS. Yowza. 8 homeruns and 7 doubles.
    - Sheffield does deserve to see the field, I guess. 14 fo 29 with two doubles and four homers.
    - Tatis is 4 for 11 with a double and a homer.
    - Wright is 14 for 36 with four doubles and two homers. 1.077 OPS FTW.

    Who's Not against Moyer:
    - Beltran is a shitty 12 for 57 with a .211/.318/.263 line for a .581 OPS. Oh boy.
    - Castro is 2 for 13 with a .599 OPS.
    - Church is 4 for 16 with a weak .646 OPS.
    - Reyes is 11 for 41, which isn't TOO terrible, but considering he's in a slump and it's CitiField, it doesn't bode well.

    ___________
I'd like to point out that my first year of college ended yesterday before the first game of the Atlanta series and that I put more effort to this KTE than I did on ANY homework assignment these last two semesters.

Letting Chan Ho Park shut us out is about as pathetic as you can get.

if Santana has any pride, he should pitch the eighth then go right into Omar's office and demand a trade. if the Mets can't get him any runs against Chan Ho outatheball Park, this pitiful fucking team doesn't deserve him.
