No way, it's perfect. I can't imagine a better song for a closer to enter to, the beginning is so epic.
I'd go with Enter Sandman myself. Hey Red Sox fans, be honest. Papelbon looks homosexual. His face, his jestures, etc. I am not busting balls or kidding around. I just want your opinions.
I wouldn't. The fact that Papelbon uses it aside, I think it's a better song anyway. I'm a big Dropkick Murphys fan and don't really like Metallica. Plus the beginning is just more imposing IMO. First of all I'm not sure why it matters, but he is married. You know who has some pretty gay gestures though is Ovechkin.
You'll need to be more specific there. He lives in MA. Besides, Papelbon's homosexuality is obviously of the latent variety.
The song title for Mariano is great. Music, not so much. You'll disagree, of course, but it's almost like the Dropkick Murphys (*cough* Woody Guthrie) wrote the damn song specifically as his entrance song. The title, the music, and the Irish tone are just perfect for a Boston closer. I can't say the same thing for Mo. It's also cool that Papelbon connected with the song before it was ever thrust upon him.
I'm Yanks fan, and love Mo. I think he's the greatest closer of all time. However, Pap's intro is pretty frickin' wickid. I have to give him the nod for best intro...As much as it pains me.
I can't even imagine what it must be like to have the gate open and run into the infield with that blaring. Enter Sandman - same thing. I think we have to credit the movie Major League for inventing entrance music for a closer. Maybe someone else can remember seeing it done before that movie. I can't.
Papelbon used to come in to Wild Thing. If he didn't do his little river dance around the infield back in 2007, he'd probably still be entering to that. Not a bad song to enter with, but it'd been done to death.
