Thanks for posting this. Personally, I'd like to see some more YAC. The catch at 1:10 in particular bothers me. Yes, the leaping catch gets a swell cheer, but you don't need to leap! Keep your feet, keep your balance, catch that shit and score. I'd like to see some more yards after contact, too; it seems like he went down two or three yards after every catch. It's going to be a lot of fun watching this kid develop, though.
He had to leap for that catch. It was over thrown by maybe about a couple of feet. If he doesn't, its not a catch. Thats simply another one of his excellent catches. Check out the college highlights and you'll get your answer as far as YAC are concerned. I didn't see alot of it this yr however, probably because he didn't get much of a chance to show and was adjusting to the speed of the NFL.
I like Keller, alwasy have. But to put him above Clark, Gonzalez, Winslow, and Witten (just as starters of the list) goes way, way beyond "premature." I'd venture "silly."
I would say he is top ten in the game right now. I think it would be hard to name ten better pass catching guys than him.
He's a top ten "talent" but I wouldn't consider him top ten just yet.... he's got the ability and the potential to be a top 5 guy in years to come, but he's only a second year pro... give the dude some time lol.
While I don't disagree with you, he was just a rookie, cut him a little slack. What i want to see more of is that play at 3:05. Where its basically a TE screen to Keller and he flys up the seam, over 3/4 of the defense misjudges his speed and he nearly picks up 20 yards just by running straight. It was flat out great play, he even tried to leap somebody at the end to pick up extra yards. We need to see more of that this up coming season!
Rex can make himself look like an offensive genius just by giving the ball to DK and Leon more. Get Leon 15 carries a game and throw the ball to DKNY 10x a game and the media will begin starting articles with "Even though Rex Ryan came to the Jets with a reputation as a defensive specialist ..."
