For all Jets' fans who feel Jets have adequate depth at OL & DL. Compare Jets & Giants OL & DL ....who has the better depth ? Jets have good starters on OL & there front 3 DL [aside from Jenkins} is an unknown. Jets' will most likely pick-up another DL or 2 before season starts.
We have jackshit in terms of depth on both lines. Good starters but nothing more. I know the Giants have a plethera of disruptive DLinemen... No doubt they have more depth.
considering the giants have arguably the most depth in the league on either line, this comparison is hardly fair.
the giants just signed a pretty good starter in chris canty who will rotate with robbins and cofeild..and kiwanuka will rotate will osi and tuck...not even a question...the giants have a better team
because we still have a fucking good team, it's not the best in the league , but it's far from the worst in the league.
It should be obvious to any fan that the Gmen have us in the Depth department. Despite our depth problems it should also be obvious that our Lines are the strength of our team. The real question should be why your continued to troll these boards the way you do. You add nothing but negative comments to any thread.
+1 The Giants defensive line is unbelievably deep. They were already stacked before the offseason and then they added Chris Canty and Rocky Bernard to their DLine. Michael Boley was a huge pick up for them, he was on his way to becoming a Pro Bowl LB in Atlanta before Mike Smith's become the new HC and installed a scheme that he didn't fit in. Boley is the perfect fit for the Giants on the weakside and I think he will be the leading tackler for them in 09. Osi, Tuck, Canty, Bernard, Kiwanuka, Alford, Cofield, Robbins, rookie sleeper Maurice Evans from PSU up front is beyond scary, and the LB core of Boley at WLB, Pierce at MLB, and Sintim at SLB will be dynamite if Sintim's skill set translates well to the 4-3 SLB spot (I have my doubts). The only two positions that we have deeper than they do now are Safety (Kerry Rhodes, Eric Smith, Jim Leonard, Emmanuel Cook) and RB (TJ, Leon, Shonn, Woodhead, Caulcrick). We might have the slight edge in CB talent with Revis, Sheppard, and Lowery, but they are equally as deep with Ross, Webster, and Dockey headlining their CB corps.
The Giants certainly have better depth along the DLine, you could say that for every team in the league as the Giants have the best and most deep DLine in the league. However there OLine depth is not much to right home about as of right now I would say we are about equal heading into TC.
How is it that the Giants have so much quality depth? If it is a matter of superior coaching, then this question needs to be asked again after Ryan gets a chance to show us what he's got. If it's a matter of better drafting and free agent signings then thats a different story. However,I would still maintain that a lot is going to change this season regarding not only performance, but perception as well.
I think its a matter of drafting and free agents. the Giants pass rush hasn't really dropped off since strahan retired and Osi was out for the season because Tuck and Kiwanuka stepped in and did just fine on their own. Tuck became the leader of the DL. They draft tons of quality linemen. The Jets have not drafted a DE for the 3-4 in 4 years now. Its getting dangerous. The Giants have had guys step in like Bob Whitfield for injured players and the line seemed just as strong. That's depth.
