At this point, I just want some football. There is no particular reason I want Sanchez to start other than the fact Clemens hasn't proven anything the 4 years he has been here. That is pretty sad, but it is what it is.
I really wanted to see Clemens succeed, but unfortunately, he's this decade's Browning Nagle from all appearances. I vote for the Dirty One.
Something to keep in mind, not only is Clemens the veteran, but he's played in this specific system his entire career. If he's not far above the rookie in the eyes of the brand new head coach, he's not going to cut it. I'd still put my money on Clemens getting the ball early if I were forced to bet though. It's rarely a good thing to throw the rookie to the wolves early, which Sanchez would be if he gets the nod out of camp.
I have been a supporter of giving Clemens a fair shot all along, but I think he has gotten that so far this year and still failed to clearly outplay Sanchez, who barely knows the system at this point. I have to agree with IBLEEDGREEN17. Start Sanchez and lets get on with it.
He may have been trying to but was in the process of being buried when he tried to throw it. The video is here if you want to watch. http://www.nfl.com/news/story?id=09000d5d805226f8&template=with-video&confirm=true
Without even 1 or 2 pre-season games played, I am not close to voting. Any edge right now is pure speculation.
I would have liked to see Clemens succeed but it looks like Sanchez is the game manager that Ryan wants.
for no good reason i want Sanchez in, i'm new to this and have heard mainly 'well, i'd like clemens, you know, for old times sake' along with shouts that he was never that great.
I still think Clemens may give us the best chance to win. But the question is who will be named, so I'll go with Sanchez.
Schotty: "Ok, we'll just tire out the DBs by throwing pick six after pick six, then they'll be too tired to cover later on!"
I still remember his pick 6 in New England. We lost 20-10 after Chad replaced him. If Chad started, it might be 17-2.
Sanchez was the second first round pick signed this year. Only Stafford was signed earlier and he was signed before the draft even began. This was very un-Jets like. They have done everything they could to let Sanchez win the job and I will be shocked if he doesn't.
We've done a few of these and every time I've said Clemens, but I think Sanchez has basically taken the job from Clemens at this point. Unless he completely bombs in the next two preseason games the job is Sanchez's.
