What i dont understand is why everyone on TGG defends picks by saying they are high character players. How the hell do we know that Schlegel is a high character player? The only reason we say that is because Mangini says it-but Nick Saban also says Ricky Williams is a high character player.
By reading and listening. How do we know that Marcus Vick is a low character player? eenie meenie minie mo?
I totally agree, we no nothing about it, good or bad. But actually OSU kind of has a bad rep-- their LB a few years ago digging his hand into the QB's throat, and Clarret brought out a lot of issues regarding the team and questionable actions on the Schools part. The academics are also terrible-- I read about a transfer student athlets who couldn't transfer more than like 10 out of 40 credits. So theere is something for the smart guy argument that will soon follow.
I guess when you scout them, you meet them and find out what makes them tick and ask other people about them, course you could just wait and see what ESPN makes of them in their draft guide
Are you fucking joking? Ricky is a drug head and has 4 kids from 4 different woman and quit on his team so he could get high.
In another thread I kind of touched on that. All of this BB compasison stuff really should stop. I have great character but no way in Hell do I want to get hit by Ray Lewis. I want football players with desire, want, and fire. Not those guys who say "I feed homless babies". The Salvation Army does that. I don't want the guy who rings the bell at Sears at Christmas time protecting Chad's(God help us) weak side. Me wants me a FOOTBALL player. Period.(.)
There is a lot in between those guys though-- 2 extreme examples. How about a comparing L Coles, with someone like Drew Bennett-- you wouldn't know the difference in character. If you throw out the high and the low-- TO, and Marvin, you get a bunch of guys who may not be like Warrick Dunn, but are certainly not problems. In my opinion, the middle of the road guy is fine, and as long as Character is not an issue, I see no need to sacrafice talent for higher character.
I dont know how he says it or why he says it but he does-so all im saying is that just because the coach of the team says they are a high scharacter player it doesnt mean they are
