I too would like Leon to stay, but not at the expense of a first round compensation. As for Kerry, he has played at a higher level in last few games. Yeah he has missed a few tackles but that wasn't always the case with him, so its not like he lacks the ability. It may just be the technique or a mental thing and that can be worked with. Im pretty sure we will see him next year and as a much better tackler. I don't want to see him go unless u get maybe a second rounder in return. There are other positions that need immediate attention, rather than the safety spot that can get by without much consequences. BE is not going anywhere next yr. He will be in NY and most likely will be locked up long term. Between him and Leon, one of them might end up not being locked up long term due to their demands and he will get franchised. So I can see both Leon and BE to be here for atleast two more years. I would really like to get Abram Elam back. I liked his play and prefer him over Eric. If Mangini leaves Browns next year, maybe we can get Elam for a 5th or something. What do you guys think of Elam? Am I the only one who likes him or is he actually good? I would to see what you have to say about this, Mr. Electric (yeah, your opinions are actually very good and my appologies for the ignorance).
We need to get younger on the O-line add a corner opposite Revis as Lito is gone and if it were up to me i'd try and swing a deal and get Rhodes the hell outta here. Keep Smith and sign a FA to replace Rhodes or draft a kid but i want that bitch gone! On defense we need to start thinking of a pass rusher that is not a linebacker. Ellis was awesome this year but he will benifit greatly from a monster rusher on the line.Go all out and get a Peppers or even try and swing a deal for Umenyoura from the Giants. They need secondary help and with the contracts they can have that faggot Rhodes for Osi.
Didn't Osi get benched for a game this year? I could be wrong but Im pretty sure one of the Giants DL got benched. If thats the case, I'd pass. We have plenty others to bench (Ghost, Sherry)
So to recap. You don't want to trade Kerry for a 3rd. You do want to trade a 5th for Abram Elam. Wow. Anyway, I'd trade Kerry in a heartbeat. His play hasn't been stellar even back from the benching and the man still does a little jig before every pile.
Abram Elam isn't coming back here. I wouldn't give up anything for him. He was a good role player, but there's nothing special about him. I'd like to see the Jets draft a safety if Kerry Rhodes is shipped out. 2010's draft is ridiculously deep at certain positions...safety just so happens to be one of those positions. It's going to really interesting to see which players that are still under contract get canned.
leon's injury has pretty much killed the idea of wanting him for big money with a long term, he is very replaceable. if we can get anything for rhodes higher than a 3rd, i'd ship the wuss out of our future plans. lito should be gone as well, surely we can find another corner that is better, even if we have to pay for it somehow with a pick or big money depending on who we can get. both lines need work, and i would love it if peppers became a jet. we need to be working toward a replacement for jenkins as well, his time is running out with age and injuries creeping up on him, suh would be an awesome pick but i do realize that a top 3 pick would be necessary to get him. we do need another rb to help jones (if we keep him long term, but i dont want another martin or chrebet situation), and another quality receiver young or old. dropping gholston and maybe b.thomas and adding another killer lb like pace, harris and scott would also be wonderful. to clarify what i have said, i realize that all of the mentioned situations cant possibly be addressed in one offseason even in an un-capped year, so which moves are the most important for the near future. go jets, lets beat the bengals to get in the playoffs so we can see what we need as a measuring stick for the offseason. if we do win on sunday and get in, is it possible that we can win a game or two, or scare a power house during the tournament?
Is Peppers going to be a free agent at the end of the year or can Panther re-franchise him? Was there such clause or anything? Anyone have anything confirmed?
Firstly please discover the enter key. Secondly I don't know that we need to find a RB to compliment Jones since we drafted Greene and have LW coming back. If anything RB is the last position of need on the entire roster. I agree we need a guy to transition into Jenkins role. Pouha has been great but hes no spring chicken. D-line depth in general is something to address as well as safety
I don't really understand the point of view that Leon does not fit our offense. We have a young QB and an offense that is seriously lacking a big play threat. Do you guys not see Rex Ryan and Schotty putting Danny Woodhead out there on every 3rd down? Obviously the coaching staff thinks we need a shifty, speedy RB back there or we would have keep TJ or Greene out there on the 3rd downs. Of course I'm assuming he comes back healthy and was the same player he was before he got injured, but getting rid of Leon would be a big mistake in my opinion.
completely agreed....LW adds depth to our offensive gameplan and to get rid of him would be ridiculous...hes our version of darren sproles
Braylon is the only must-keep for me. He's a #1 WR who brings athleticism that the Jets haven't had at WR in a long-time. More importantly, it comfortably keeps J-Cotch as a #2 where he can thrive.
you do realize that leon may not be anything near the player he was? his injury is a bad one for someone who is a speed back. you people act as though he had a minor ankle sprain. as far as i'm concerned we need to be looking ahead, rather than relying on an unknown.
Youre whacked. If leon is the player he was, he is irreplaceable. Kick returner, explosive runner, catches balls out of backfield. Do u realize how badly Sanchez was hurt by not having Leon
