I don't know about Herm's picks but in the Sporting News NFL Preview (8/09) he called Revis one of the top 5 players in the league.
Not top 5 defensive players or top 5 defensive back...amongst all NFL players.
And that's something we should all be able to agree upon.

You do realize that two of those three will not be off of the roster before minicamps, right?

I agree that moving Cotchery to the slot isn't such a bad idea. Two speedsters and than Cotchery inside can really open him up or the other two down the field.

As far as I know, Lito, Lowery and Strickland are all under contract until 2011 atleast. With Lito, we have the option. With others, we'd have to release them. As of right now, all of them are on the team. But I agree with you that Strickland and Lito MIGHT become FAs. Rhodes may even end up on a different team aswell but we are assuming too much here.

If we keep the current crop AND pick up a #2 CB, our depth will be pretty good. Maybe you'll agree now since I made myself clear? Lowery and Lito are much much better than most of the #3 CBs in the league, agreed or not?

The Jets are not keeping Lito on his contract to give him $10million to ride the pine for 9 starts in one season. The Jets are not going to keep Strickland to get hurt every other game. They are gone.

Lito got benched twice in the AFC Championship game. He's shit. He's done. Say goodbye.

Lito, in a perfect world, where players do not get injured for over half the season and play slow and grabby when they are somewhat healthy, is a pretty good #2 corner.

If we can bring him back for a bargain (after they release him and that ridiculous bonus he has coming), we might possibly be able to stand pat at 1-2-3 with Revis, Lito and Lowery... but ONLY if we can find a true edge rusher and ONLY if either Jenkins can stay healthy for the entire season (slim chance) or we draft a young DT to bolster the middle of the line behind him.

The only reason our secondary looked so good on paper this year was the fact that we blitzed the fuck out of every QB we played this season (in addition to having Revis blank every #1 WR he faced). It was pretty much the same personnel that we had when we were 29th against the pass.

I wouldn't mind bringing back Lito on the cheap but that ain't going to happen...

Why do many people think Strickland will be cut? I don't think that will happen.. we'd be idiots.

We need 5 CBs (Cole is a ST, not a CB). We can't afford to let 3 leave (Lito, Strickland and Coleman)...

Is Coleman any good as a ST?

strick couldn't stay healthy. There have been reports that he won't be resigned.

Herm Edwards is an idiot.... sorry guys but the Jets had a nice run at the end of the year but as of right now the Colts .. the Chargers ... the Ravens possibly the Texans are better than the Jets right now... I love the Jets and I think Rex Ryan has them going in the right direction... but there are some serious holes that must be addressed either in the draft of FA.. #1 IMO is a solid DE to get after the QB #2 I dont know if Clowney will step up this year in TC.. but if not a WR to line up opposite Edwards or Cotchery will be a must #3 a DT .. if the Jets can address those issues maybe they can make a run next year...
