I know people are so rediculous. The greatest QB in the history of the NFL picked apart our injured secondary. Last game of the season is always what sits in peoples minds for the entire offseason.
Exactly what does that have to do with the secondary? Yes. Frequently throughout the season, in fact. Pass rush or no, that scenario is likely going to happen again unless the offense improves 10 fold and Peyton takes a major dive in his game. If you want to beat the best, you have to improve. The Pass D was not good enough to beat Peyton Manning - the best QB in the AFC - last season It was the most important game of the season. Losing in the AFCC means that this team is not ready for the Super Bowl. And why the hell not improve on the secondary anyway? If you let it stay stagnant in this league, it is going to decline because the best teams are going to get better. Replace the two injury problems and the Jets will continue to have the best pass defense in the league. Let it stand as it is and the teams that we struggled to beat or lost to last season are going to get better and kill us this season.
My argument was that our secondary was not our achilles heel. I never said it couldn't stand to be upgraded.
Age on both lines. With these Aso talks there's no way we aren't upgrading the secondary in some way.
Nice double post. Nothing with Asomugha is guaranteed and there are not too many other veterans available. At the very least, the lines are going to have the same talent on them. The secondary on the other hand is potentially losing three players.
Did anyone see that Robinson from the Texans got released, they didnt want to franchise tag him. Kid is pretty good but would want BIG dollars!
Great post Cato. In one thread, you claim Jets have a pressing need at both the lines and LB and that an All-Pro CB isn't needed. In this thread, you claim there aren't many (or any) reliable veterans we can get via FA or trade besides Aso and that the lines will have the same talent next yr. When I assumed that these players plus Jones and Ghost might be gone by the start of the season, you said I was out of my mind. Now you seemingly agree with me...You keep contradicting your own thoughts assumptions and opinions just to make a douche post and disagree with everyone.
The big thing with Robinson becoming a FA isn't us pursuing him, but him diluting demand for Asomugha. As long as he's on the market, teams that otherwise could pursue Aso can look at grabbing Robinson and not lose players/picks. The Jets should make an effort to get a deal done soon, while the price is slightly lower. Granted, it won't be a huge difference, but if they're going to do it, there isn't going to be a better price than right now.
The Jets do still have a need at both lines and at linebacker. They will have the same talent, meaning the same players, but the wear and tear will take effect. You seem to be forgetting about this draft thing that goes on in April. When I said nothing was guaranteed I mean that there is no guarantee that the Jets can get him. My whole argument has been against giving up multiple draft picks for one player. Where the Hell did you say this? Are you bringing up something something you posted at the beginning of the season?
I think Rex being the HC is going to go a long way with players looking to move. I'm not saying they would not look to make the most money they can i just think that if it's in the ballpark us having Rex can only work in our favor.
Drew Rosenhaus is telling everyone that Lito Sheppard will be released by the Jets. It's basically a done deal.
