It was pretty funny listening to Deion Sanders when Mays' official time was posted. He sounded pretty pissed. He was echoing the fact that the difference between 4.24 and running in the 4.4's is huge, and that the ridiculous "unofficial" time was misleading to the viewers. He wanted them to "show the culprit" on camera.
Mays is the perfect Al Davis pick, though I dont think in the first because Bruce Campbell's 40 time is just too good for Davis to pass on. He is built like god with the speed and strength to match Taylor Mays just likes to make a big hit, that is all
Taylor Mays did what Pete Carroll asked him to do at USC. He's gonna end up being the best safety in this class IMO. His potential is through the roof and if he can get away from Oakland, people will feel very stupid in 2 years.
i watched it live and was completely shocked that it was that low, 4.24 is ridicuous at his size. according the walterfootball .com mays ran atleast a low 4.3 or high 4.2. Mays definetly can run and with his workout someone will reach for him
Draft Mays with our 29th pick in the second round and make him hang out with Darrelle all summer, then maybe we'll talk
There was considerable chatter about converting him to an OLB. Can the kid tackle? His coverage background could be an advantage. I am not suggesting that he come to the Jets. However, could you imagine him coming on blitz.
i like the kid i think he could cover those athletic tight ends in the nfl , he strong big hitter and has some fluid hips , if he is there in the second that would be a steal and i can guarantee you wont see any of those kerry rhodes love taps from him , taylor mays wants to hurt somebody when hes on the field
Who the hell cares if he ran a 4.4? If he takes a bad angle on the field, it'll cost him, at minimum, 0.5 seconds to recover from the mistake. And now that 40 time becomes a 4.9. If he reads a play the wrong way and a running back/wide receiver gets by him, his 40 time becomes irrelevant as the offense just got a huge gain or even a touchdown. Straight-line speed is a great thing to have, but if you can't read an NFL play as it unfolds, you're not gonna make it in this league. Mays is going to flop.
