How would one define a "poison pill" exactly? Maybe Steve Hutchinson really did want to be the highest paid OL on his team.
It's a good question. I'm guessing a lot of it could be avoided by requiring certain clauses to apply only to the team that made the offer. For example, in the Hutch situation the contract would have to read the highest paid player on the Vikings o-line.
Lol the poison pill is like a pesky player..... You love'em when they are on your team and hate playing against them.
The Vikes used Walter Jones contract against the hawks, and knew they wouldn't match it. The Seahawks turned around and did the same thing to the Vikes with Burleson. I think the stipulation had something to do with number of games played in Minnesota. The Jets used one to keep the Pats from matching Curtis Martin's deal. I believe it gave Martin the option to void the contract after one year.
Can we give Jerry Jones a poison pill? The Poison Pill is business being conducted skillfully and artistically.
