Didn't realize that Brentson Buckner was out there. According to ESPN, DT is the deepest position among free agents still out there. Like to see the Jets take a flyer on one of these guys (with the exception of James Reed).

Defensive line: Tackle is by far the deeper position of the two line spots, with Buckner, Grady Jackson, James Reed, Jason Fisk, Gary Walker, Jerry DeLoach and perhaps Wilkinson available. Jackson is still on the radar in Atlanta and St. Louis but, as always, needs to get his weight down by about 8-10 pounds and prove to someone he has enough stamina to still be at least a rotational contributor.

Buckner would be a huge sign for the jets, he is one of "their" guys, he is a team leader/player and he is also a hard worker. This guy is tough and I would love to see the jets get him, everybody else on the list is second tier

If we signed Brenston Buckner we'd finally see the real DeWayne Robertson. Buckner isnt just a flashy signing, hes a solid player and a team player at that.

I also noticed Tommy Polley is a FA. I would love to pick him up if we hadnt flooded the team with other LB signings. He led the Ravens in tackles last yr, and was one of the few players who contributed to turning the Rams D around when Lovie Smith coached their.

But if we signed anyone it needs to be Buckner.

Buckner would be a great, solid addition. Wouldn't be around long, but could help us develop young talent.

I think he's going to end up a Giant for some reason.

Exactly...if he was 32 or younger I would say go for it. He (like Kemo) is too old for this young team.

That is nonsense. By your logic the following players are too old for the Jets..

    Ben Graham
    Pete Kendall
    Curtis Martin
    Kimo von Oelhoffen
Dump them all or not play these guys and see what happens....

Well you just misunderstood me bro.

We shouldn't SIGN anybody who's already old. I have no problem with aging players already on the roster.

I would want him for our 4-3 defensive front, but i dont think he would be happy with the limited amount of reps.

What? Are you kidding me... That is our biggest hole in my opinion.

Buckner would be nice at the right price.

I hope the Jets sign Buckner. I would not mind bringing back Reed, but only as a backup. He added good depth up until he was a starter. Wilkinson may be worth a look for a cheap price, same with Jackson.

Plus he would boost the team's chapstick sales figures...

Buckner and Big Daddy are tiptoeing on the retirement wire so I would be slow to sign either of them considering neither is going to be that final piece to send us to the championship.

Grady Jackson would be a great fit physically because he is ginormous and could easily fit the nose but it seems like his attitude is holding him back and increasing his weight exponentially so he doesn't seem to fit the team's attitude.

The rest of the guys are 3-4 end types who could play nose in a pinch a la Kimo and Pope.

Look, if the Jets are flashing back and forth between a 3 and 4-man front, a fat bastard like Grady Jackson might be perfect as well. He would only have to play hard a few plays a game.
