    Meaningless games, I agree.

Mark shouldn't be throwing picks however - preseason or not.

Sanchez looks bad, Brunell stinks and Clemens has never showed a thing. Other than that our Qb position looks great.

Great post, TBird. You're right, no need for panic just yet. But my concern is our schedule. If we play the way we've last three weeks, I can see us starting 0-3.

I disagree. Clemens has so far looked the best in preseason albeit limited snaps and really only one game. Tough to tell, but heck I wouldn't get rid of him right now - he knows our system pretty good.

Well when you're a QB and most of the time you get pressured or sacked, you're going to feel it even on plays where the pressure isn't there. That's what's happening. Sanchez is making poor reads because he's pressuring himself to make those reads faster because the O line isn't giving him enough protection in general. Defenses are effectively disrupting the timing of our offense.

There are a lot of different paths to a Super Bowl winning career that don't go straight there early on. The odds are just as good that Sanchez path is going to look like one of the above as that it will look like Ben Roethlisbergers or Eli Mannings.

How many years did it take Peyton Manning to get to a Super Bowl?

I was at the game on Friday Night and here's three things I noticed ...

    1) I picked up some seats to the Gridiron Club...impressive and expensive.
    2) The new "crowd" is bizarre...people in suits, women in dresses...hardly a wimper...we will be the lamest home crowd in the league (yeah, I know preseason..but still, if you go you will see that Woody got his wish..corporate yuppies in every seat.)
    3) SANCHEZ...Yeah I love the Kid, he looks like a star, he acts like a pro in interviews, he gets excited on the field and he seems to be trying to fill the role of "team leader"...BUT something is certainly off...is it just simply 2nd year slump stuff, or could he possibly be (ghasp) not all that good. I gotta tell ya, he really looked bad live and his passes floated ALOT.

Im watching the game in full from NFL network.

The first quarter the jets looked GREAT. Besides those horrible penatlies, we played great in the first quarter.

I certainly don't think Sanchez lookes terrible. Stripping it back to pure numbers, he had worse statistical output in the San Diego win last postseason than in the Washington game last week.

I dont know man... this preseason has certainly caused me to temper my enthusiasim. Sanchez has looked like dog shit. I know its preseaon but his decision making has sucked thus far. It seems like he either waits too long and gets sacked or hurries and throws a shit pass or a pick. I still feel that there is no way in hell he should be in the shotgun with an empty backfield. Its only preseason and I feel like they should be scaling it back for him already. And enough with the shitty "I'm gonna cry" look after he throws a pick.

The one reason I loved Penny is most of the time after he threw a pick he ran off the field and immedietly started clapping his hands, smacking guys on their shoulders pads and getting the troops ready to go back out. He didnt sulk.

Also, I may be in the minority here but I have NOT been impressed with Cro in the least. He dropped how many picks and got beat by the 70 year old Joey Galloway more than once. The D will still be good but in no way should we expect what we had last year.

I gotta tell you guys, I was working all weekend and I dvr'd this game and just watched it. However I read the comments on here and a lot of people were killing Sanchez. I don't get it. I think he looks so much better, and granted the offense didn't put points up. But it was a combination of sloppy play in the sense of drops by receivers, and more importantly the O line was letting a lot of pressure get to him.
I think the biggest difference in watching him, is that he isn't forcing things. He is taking the check downs and not forcing things downfield. The pick was a great bait n swich by DeAngelo Hall and that stuff is gonna happen. The offensive play calling was also very vanilla, which always happens in preseason. I was expecting to watch a Sanchez disaster after reading some of the comments on here, and honestly I thought he played a decent game.

Yes, this is agreed. To me he looks like a guy who is going to put up 200 yards each week as a baseline, which is a huge step forward.

The kid responds so well. After going 5/11, he then went 8/10 with a touchdown.

The kid learned how to bounce back.

yea, i actually think his problem is the opposite of just looking at two receivers, he is trying to spread it around almost too much

cotchery clearly had a mismatch, because he was open on damn near every play (wide open if sanchez goes through the progressions on his INT play) sanchez needs to start exploiting mismatches until the defense has to change their approach, that way his is dictating to them instead of the other way around

I'd just like to see a game where he doesn't have to bounce back from a shitty pass. I'm sure he'll be fine, but it would be nice to see him come in and play efficiently and make good decisions like he did in the playoffs.

I'm hoping this will get better when the playbook is opened up more week 1.

He bounced pretty well last year also except for a couple of games. I'm not worried about his ability to handle hard bounces. I'm much more worried about Schotty's ability to adjust to the situation that is opening up in front of him and Sanchez in each game and make appropriate changes to get things back on track.

I really wish the Jets gameplan this year was a slightly more opened up version of the offensive turtle they went into at the end of last season. That's what would really help Sanchez grow into the role the Jets need him to play. That gameplan would also help the new guy at LG adjust to the pace and would take some pressure off of Damien Woody who is a very good runblocker and a bit shakier in pass defense. It might even open up the opportunity to shift Woody in to LG and use somebody else at RT if that's where the Jets needed to go.

id also like to see this, i think its a little late to be shuffling the line tho

as far as sanchez bouncing back, he did okay but most of it was against the skins second team D

I'm off work today and watching ESPN (I don't have NFL Network). Skip Bayless is on right now and I'm sure he's getting ready to bash the Jets. Should I watch this or go try to chop my dick off with a butter knife? Decisions..........
