Ok, but none of that would happen if you moved a team to Canada or Mexico. Though I'm not in favor of a team in Mexico I see no reason to stop a team from going to Toronto if they're not making money in the US.
when Ralph Wilson dies...and a real owner takes over that franchise...they'll start making money again. I'm of the opinion...that if it isnt broken, why fix it? The NFL is a money making machine...with a HUGE fanbase.....why fuck with it.
Obviously everybody is entitled on their opinion on this. As a big fan of sport that travels internationally quite a bit I often get into conversations like this (with drunk dudes) about lots of different sports and I'm always interested to hear what people think about the feasibility of sports in other cultures. Usually it's about soccer in the US or Football in Europe... and sometimes Rugby in the US. I think the NFL is one of the best run and most exciting spectator sports in the world and that's why I think if it's presented right, the people of the UK or Canada would embrace it. Sure the NFL is a money making machine, but that gives them the opportunity to take some chances to see if they could improve the league. And if that means taking a bottom dweller and putting it in a market that could work very well (even if it's international) then I'm all for it.
well...I've watched Bettman ruin the NHL right before my eyes.....by expanding the NHL market into the southern states (sunbelt)....and it's blown up in his face. Everybody on the planet knew it was a mistake...but he did it anyway....now he's got teams in areas where they're only filling up 1/3 of the arena with fans. The NHL has egg on its face because of that....but Bettman will never admit to it. I don't want the NFL to make the same mistake.
i have said it before i will say it again. roger goodell is the worst thing that has ever happened to this league. its amazing that every single thing he does annoys me.
I agree, if anything keep it w/in North America sans Mexico, that place is just a crime ridden, drug infested, TOTALLY corrupt country. I would NEVER EVER want the NFL to even consider that $hithole.
is this just another ploy by the currect jackass commissioner to show the players union that they have no control. or to gain leverage in what will be a big battle in the months to come? well ok we wont look at expanding to europe IF you agree to x, x and x. type of bullshit i am sure he will be doing.
i hope it happens, and it's an nfc team. nfc east. lololol giants fans would be pissed off. i hope it also happens for the fact most players would not want to go there, and we could trade shitty players probably for some picks. dublin drunks. i love the sound of it. send john gruden over there..i cant stand that clown
Less appealing? Ralph Wilson Stadium is still packing them in after 10 years of no playoffs. Most franchises would be at half capacity in that situation. I know they are 0-6, but there is still a ton of fan interest in WNY, just not nationally.
I went along to the game yesterday and it was a good laugh but I just don't think its feasible to imagine a UK base dfranchise and not something I would want to see. I uploaded for my mate (a niners fan) this clip of them running out onto the pitch. - I was sat next to some very loud brummies so apologies for the shouting near the start! It was a great atmosphere - 83,000+ in attendance and not the slightest hint of any trouble either before during or after.
Goodell lost his mind years ago. He's done some good things such as in reagrds to plater sfatey but for the fans he's screwed up a million different ways and that will continue w/ the later start to seasons, the 18 game season, and more. I would rather we sent a SB to London than have a franchise there or play reg season games there.
If they sent a SB to London, I'm pretty sure someone would assasinate Goodell.... Please send a SB to London...
The SB isn't for football fans anyway, that's the perfect game to send overseas rather than a reg season game where home fans lose a home game.
All this anger and outrage is retarded. Literally every single sport once a year someone comes out and says, "In a couple years we definitely might be looking at a European franchise". It never happens, it's probably not going to happen hear. I mean I don't love the guy cause I don't think he's really done anything to help the game, but aside from the blackout stuff which involves a whole lot of other factors what is one tangible thing Roger Goodell has done to make watching games less enjoyable Sunday? Almost everything this guy does to piss you guys off only exists hypothetically so far. The NFL is pretty fucking awesome to watch right now. You people are really really angry and I don't get it. And if that was just kind of a sarcastic joke at me that didn't warrant this long response...fuck you.
