Brad Smith is such a valuable member of this team with all the roles he fills. He's a true special teams ace. As a QB he runs the only successful option I've ever seen in the modern NFL. And on top of that he can play WR. He's obviously having a bigger game tonite than he usually has, but he has an impact on every game, and forces two units of the opponent to have to game plan for him. Mike T really has his work cut out for him keeping all this talent.

Hopefully the new rules will help the Jets keep everyone.

If the cap is higher, everyone will be resigned.

That would be nice, because this is one talented team.

Tony I got the B Smith for xmas last year, wore it in New Orleans where they laughed at me for wearing a "special teams jersey". Some people just dont get it..... Hope all is well... Hope to see you next year..

There's no doubt in my mind that re-signing Brad will be a priority when the time comes.

I'd like to see an NBA-style soft cap: you can go over to resign your own guys, but not to sign free agents.

He's improved so much since we drafted him, and is really one of the most valuable players on the team right now just because of the extra dimension he adds to our offense. Very few players in the NFL like him.

You'd probably need to fully guarantee player contracts then

I'm not sure if this has been discussed, but I haven't really been following the CBA talks. If the league expands to an 18 game regular season, shouldn't the roster size increase? This would mean that the cap should be higher than in the past. Hopefully we can keep Smith.

the problem with getting a #16 Jersey is that the "Smith" is so un-cool ;)

I bought mine at the beginning of the 2009 season. It is the only Jets jersey I have.

What if we don't sign him though?

I truly want to but he is going to demand a lot of coin that we might not have.

Guy is a stud without a doubt.

    He's a cheap resign.

He won't command a lot of money. He's talent, but he's no Josh Cribbs and is not the best player on the team. Cribbs is the best playmaker on the Browns.

I can see Brad getting a 5 year extension.
