It totally depends on which games we win/lose and which games they win/lose. But the tie-breakers go:

    1) Head to Head (push)

    2) divisional record (right now, both teams are 3-1 in the division )

    3) Record against common opponents (So far, we beat Cleveland while they lost to Cleveland but they beat Balty while we lost to them = push so far)

    4) Conference Record (right now both teams have two conference losses)

etc, etc, etc . . . you get the point.

Chances are, both teams will beat Miami and Buffalo at home and finish with the same divisional records (5-1). So, IF we can outplay NE by a game the rest of the way (a BIG IF, obviously), it looks like it will most likely come down to record against common opponents or maybe even conference record. This means we'd probably have to beat pittsburgh, who NE already beat. We'll see. Let's just beat Miami.

not to be that guy but seriously...

    "playoffs? You're talking bout playoffs?"

C'mon man, did tonight teach you anything? We need to get the fix the ship and then worry about the future.

    edit:
Oh, and for those asking, I heard someone say that the tiebreaker would come down to strength of victory, which odds are the patriots win.

Do you not remember all the "season's over" threads after getting our asses kicked in NE last year, and a couple months later the Pats were eliminated and the Jets in the AFCG? Do you not remember the Giants losing 41-17 to the Vikings in week 12 of 2007 then winning the Super Bowl a couple of years later? Enough with the negativity. It's one loss.

We need 1 fucking win to clinch a playoff spot. We could even lose out and still make it easily.

If we can't win 1 of the last 4 games than we are the worst team in history.

So yes I am talking playoffs.

The Jets would beat either one of those teams in the first round on the road. No question in my mind.. especially Jax. Warmer weather, Sanchez won't play like complete crap. And they should be able to stop the run.

Our three games are Miami, Chi, Pitts, and Buffalo. If we play like this, we could very well lose these games. Even Buffalo, division games are always a bitch.

We got a another big game against the fins next week, let's kick their ass first and worry bout playoffs after we clinch.

If we win out, and they lose to either Buffalo or Miami, we win the division because of divisional recored.

If we win out, and they lose to Green Bay or Chicago, it looks like it will get very complicated, because we will have the same record in common games, and the same conference record. It would go to the next tiebreaker, which I think is strength of victory.

Gets crazier if we go 3-1 and them 2-2.

Jacksonville and Kansas City are both easy wins. There's definitely a problem in the Jets' management plan and philosophy. The Jets get out of rhythm whenever they have an extended amount of time to relax. Rex needs a Mangini-type assistant to keep him in check.

I have no doubt that the Jets will not play as sloppy as they did today for the rest of the season

KC and Jax play smart football and rarely make mistakes...they won't be easy.

Wait people really think we are going to lose our next 4 games?

The negativity around here is at an all time low.

I'd like to believe this as well, but what have they really shown us that would prove that. Taking off the green tinted glasses, they really haven't played well since the Buffalo game.

They have the talent and I think Rex is a pretty good coach, but they are just not playing well. The only good that can come out of this game is that this could be a BIG wake up call, and if that happens, then I'd hate to be the dolfags right now.

But that's what I'm saying, one game at a time.
