remember that Sanchez has good hands... could you imagine Brad smith taking a snap, running the counter option to the right sideline, while Sanchez is left uncovered running straight down the left sideline. Smith pulls up and launches the ball as far as he can to Sanchez running free.... God it would be a hell of a play, gutsy as all fuck... of course it would be dependent on Brad reading the play, if Sanchez man stays with him/knocks him over, brad runs the normal option, if his man leaves Sanchez alone, Brad throws it back to Mark across the field. Mark simply has to catch the ball and when somebody gets close to catching him, run out of bounds before taking a hit... It will never ever happen. But damn it would be sweet as hell to see...
Personally I can't wait until the Seminole is done away with, stop taking plays away from MS, use BS exclusively on special teams and as a WR enough with the Seminole.
In 12 games Holmes 52 receptions for 746 yards and 6 Tds. When our offense has struggled it has been the whole unit, not just Holmes. Brad Smith has provided sparks, 2 TDs on returns, 1 rushing, great returns to put us in good field position and a few big runs. (and the 1 TD pass to Keller) Just by the nature of his position he can't be our biggest weapon, he's not involved enough and I think he's getting the right amount of touches now. Remember prior to the the Bills game the WC formation was not really working too well as of late. We can't over utilize his skill set then it would be too predictable.
Appreciate the lucid, well thought response. I agree that the #16 wildcat has become predictable. I'm questioning whether putting in some low risk plays for Brad Smith (hand-offs and perhaps a slant) is worth the timing disruption to an offense that is already consistently out of rhythm. On paper - we should own this Colt team. On paper, we should have also been able to move the ball at will all year. With all that talent - we didn't! We haven't been in a flow all season - very troubling that the only time this team seems to operate well is when Sanchez is forced into playing without having to overthink (2 minute drill) - a real indicator that the offense is being overmanaged and overthought - and therefore not finding its flow. Either we fix it, or need to manufacture more big plays. Hopefully we fix it like we did at this time last year. If not, we need the plays from somewhere else - especially with road matchups against the 2 best QB's of the past 20 years ensuing!!!! Frankly - fixing the offense boils down to controlling the LOS and getting the run game back. I think some Smith hand-offs could create that momentum. Sorry if much of the board thinks I'm re-hashing an old argument; I'm not -- I'm trying to think through a de-stagnation of this offense and a momentum sparker.
Mr Playoffs (SGreene) is hopefully back to inflict more Colts pain, and this time finish the job. The last few games have me smiling once again Re; our rushing attack, with a 3 pronged attack of LT, SG and Mc I think we have the luxury of keeping the ball and being able to pound away, a gameplan which very nearly worked last season, but the Colts are far from the team we faced last year, so I'm full of optimism.
ESPN this morning did a piece on Brad Smith and what he will do this weekend and what he did last year against the Colts. The league and the media are taking notice.
Let's hope. The run game is about the OL, and I don't put much credence in their performance against Buffalo. Let's hope Rex rides a fresh Greene and the OL finds him some holes. I haven't seen a burst out of LT since before the bye week.
