Post game Presser My feeling right now is that both LT and JT had seasons, LT moreso. I know that JT has had his critics, but what he also brings is experience and leadership, like LT does. I would like to see them both back.
LT is still under contract and I wouldn't release him from that contract since its at a reasonable price. I thought JT was going to retire? His price for next season is way too high - but if he wants to take a pay cut I'd keep him around as a backup. We still need to draft a pass rusher though.
JT had some nice plays, but he's not the answer for the question who will rush the passer. LT contributed more, but that was earlier in the season, less so as the season progressed. I would not be averse to bringing him back. The good news is Greene did not fumble so much this year as last, and seems to be doing better. Still, neither Greene nor LT played well last night. I feel less happy about this duo as the Jet RB tandem.
Both big contributors this season. LT has some weaknesses though and they have been exploited by good teams. I say bring them both back and try to keep the roster as close as possible to this years with maybe some coaching changes and a hungry defensive lineman.
LT is under contract for another year - so no need to extend, however, I would keep him here as a veteran back (in light of T-Rich's impending departure from the organization) and, as said, a change of pace/pass catching RB out of the backfiled, with Greene as the primary RB. As for JT, as I wrote on another thread, we can get similar performance from someone younger and much less expensive. He's not coming back.
Welcome back LT in a reduced role. No more #1 back, # 2 back duties only. Schotty must use SG as the # 1. Thanks for the safeties JT. See you later.
Schotty is best buds with LT...as long as LT is around, he'll get preferential treatment over S.Greene, imo. I want this to be S.Greene's team....LT is done. You guys know he won't come back in a reduced role...it's not in his nature.
Id like to see them both back for close to the vet minimum. LT ran out of steam stupidly fast this season, but provided some intangiables. If he could impact McKnights game like he did Greens (ie catching out of the backfield for Green) then hes more than worth it. Same thing for JT and whomever we draft this year. Both of these guys made huge plays, but for the most part werent very good.
I wanted to punch him in the face so bad after last night's game. LT did nothing last night...while Greene was tattooing Clark's face with his footprint. Fuck you, Schotty.
To get the contribution from LT the 1st part of the season and the playoff Colts game was more than I expected. The guy was shot last year, and came in with a youth fire. Now to expect that again is a stretch. Be happy with what LT gave you and move on.
Jason Taylor looked about 800 years old out there. It's time for someone with a motor to get the playing time. LT has a 2 year deal, I wouldn't mind keeping him. I'm sure he'll have himself prepared for the season as he was this year. They should probably use him more sparingly though.
JT can stay if hes going to go for cheap and is in a backup role. Maybe he can teach our younger players that we draft.
bingo bango bongo. somebody gets it. EDIT: I never thought I'd do this....but junc was HALF right.....Taylor wasn't worth the trouble. He made like what... 2 or 3 impact plays all season?? He isn't worth resigning....not by a country mile.
