We have not only lost 3 games in a row but lost 3 Conference games
Add to that, to teams that will most likey be up for the same Playoff spots.
    That's big.

PATRIOTS - Most likely get in position to win the division.
RAVENS - Wacky ass division right now, May win it, if not, definite WC
RAIDERS - Most likely fighting to get a WC

AORN, we are 12th in the AFC.
    12th!
That's 4 away from the worst team in the AFC.

Of course I realize it's a long season but it's now game 6 so Yea, I'd say it's MUST win time for us already...because we are currently 1-3 in the connference and can't afford to lose more AFC games.

well yeah of course the next game is a must win, oakland game was a must win, patriots game was a must win and the dolphins are an even bigger must win.
However i will say this, if we are lucky enough to get to the wildcard round then this year's sb is ours

Lets beat the Phins and bring it to the Chargers. Lets get to 4-3 before heading to Buffalo. Thats best case scenario.

Yeah, but results wise we're only one game behind where I'd have realistically expected us to be - the only one of the three defeats you'd have banked on us winning is the Oakland game. NE and Baltimore on the road are probably the two toughest games on the schedule and even playing well, they would have been tough games to win. All is not lost just yet.

^ Agreed. Need to absolutely sweep Miami. I'm sorry but if they can't fix the problems within the next two games, then they have no business being in the conversation as far as the playoffs are concerned.

Today was not a must win. Next week is. San Diego is not... IF we can beat Buffalo and New England. Out of the next 4 games Ill take a loss to San Diego over a divisional opponent. Gotta beat New England next time around.

Realistic finish for this team at this point is 8-8, with Ryan rallying the troops after the Jets drop to their worst record of the season at 3-5 or maybe even 3-6. Looking at the schedule moving forward I only see 2 or 3 games that I expect the Jets to win without a problem. I see another 3 or 4 that I think the Jets can't possibly win with a misfiring offense at this point.

Excellent point, and one that MBGreen and I were discussing earlier. The fact that the Ravens and Raiders are each potential WC competitors could bite us in the ass down the road.

The only loss that really has me kicking myself (idk why, its not my fault) is the oakland game. No loss is good and fun, but that one should've been ours.

Miami is horrendous. No fucking excuse we lose to them at home on National TV. It would be 10Xs as embarrassing than the Ravens game or 45-3 game.

You can't get too wrapped up in standings at this point...

...but we are 0-3 against teams we could be fighting for playoff spots.

Assuming that the division is lost (which isn't true yet but it's becoming a bit of a longshot), we'll be fighting for the wild card.

Baltimore should win the AFC North.
New England should win the AFC East.

And if we make the playoffs, there's a pretty good chance we beat San Diego in 2 weeks on the way there. While Oakland looks like a fellow wild card contender, they did go 6-0 in the division last year, and they look good. They could possibly win the AFC West, and if they do, then we'd have the head-to-head against the team that matters.

And we get one more shot at New England. We still control our own destiny with that tiebreaker, since New England lost to Buffalo.

So not all is lost in terms of tiebreakers.

Would rather focus on the positives here, rather than looking at it as if Buffalo, Pittsburgh, and San Diego win those divisions, in which case we would be behind the 8-ball.

I'd have thought that would be the floor at worst going into the season but if we find a way to lose to Miami next week we'll all think 4-12 is on the way.

Note that last year on the way to 11-5 we found a way to lose to the Fins 10-6 in our stadium. Yeah they suck this year but we've only lost one less game in a row than they have as of right now.

Seriously, if this game is 10-6 Dolphins at halftime, there will be a ton of tension in that building and some angry fans.

Oh God. Are we going to have a thread saying that we should lose to Miami to prevent them from going 0-16 and drafting Luck? Better yet, we lose both games and they are guaranteed of 2-14 as a best case scenario. Hell, if we lose the rest of our games, we own the tiebreaker since we lost to them twice! Maybe we should fire Schotty now and put in a new system. That would TOTALLY fuck us up.

OK, I've had enough. It's gonna be a long week.
