Ok everyone that is so pissed their hair is on fire can post here. This team is pretty frustraing right now, nobody can deny it. I think going down the roster and listing who stays and who goes is productive, kind of like therapy. I think there is a few of these posts, if there this is just my opinions. As Guinness said earlier, it is weird for a Jets fan to have high expectations and when this team doesn't seem to meet them, it's much much much worse. So I will just list the various units and my thoughts..... feel free to answer. Offense: Sanchez- Can't give up on him just yet. I am holding back for a day or two rather than opine when too frustrated and can answer more objectively. Frankly, he really pisses me off and I want to punch him in his face but that is another day. Oline- Hunter is hot garbage. One weak link on the Oline destroys the entire line. Slauson-not sure about him, he seems to be improving. They need to shore up RT than the line will be fine. No need to blow the entire line up. Ducasse is pretty bad right now, he probably gets one more chance, one more offseason and that is it. WR's- Kerley and Holmes are probably the only ones that are going to be back next year. TE's- Keller- An enigma, wrapped in a riddle. He should be better than he is. Mulligan should be bagging groceries. Cumberland is going to be coming off an ugly injury and Baker is meh. RB's- LT will most likely be gone, Greene is a complimentary back. McKnight with another offseason maybe more of a feature back than SG. Powell, we can't honestly say anything other than meh. Conner isn't going anywhere. Defense: Dline- Probably going largely remain the same. MWilk-played a hell of a game today. He can be something special. Ellis again not sure other than when he plays, he looked good, hustles occupies blockers etc. Devito, Pouha, Dixon, and Ropati are all rotational players that should have a spot. LB's- Bart played well tonight. I still think he is injured. If I remember correctly he injured himself early in the season, so you can't accurately gauge him. Besides Bart and Pace can not be cut because they restructured their contracts. They are here for 1 more year, like it or not. Anyway, Pace Harris and Scott are here next year. Bellore is a special teams demon, Westerman is nonexistant. Maybin, Mauga and Macintyre are depth players at this point. Thomas unfortunately is gone. Safeties- Leonhard, Pool and Smith may all be gone. Actually Leonhard is probably the only guy to be back. Smith is nothing more than a special teamer and a sub package guy, no way he is a starter. He really should be fluffing black porn stars. CB's- honestly this is a strong point of the team, albeit an expensive strong point. K/P- Folk is ok while Conley sucks balls.......... Coaching- Rex and the defensive staff save for a coach or 2 (it is usually that way, not saying anyone should be canned) are safe. Offensive coaching staff- Schotty is gone. I can not accurately say who else from the staff may or may not be released. It really is a problem that the offense can not score on the opening drive, a big problem. That is on the OC more than Sanchez. Rex- Some of these problems are on Rex. Offensively he is proving to be slightly inept. For a guy that is a defensive genius, (yes I think he is) he doesn't grasp offense well at this point. The team is too undisciplined, ie too many 12 men on the field, too many penalties, the dysfunction etc. etc....... Rex should be more of a big picture guy rather than just a hopped up DC. I think he can learn and that this step back, will be good long term. It is my opinion that anyone that can constantly evolve a defensive scheme as well as Rex has the power to self assess. Hopefully, Rex can self assess and improve going forward. Tannenbaum- He works in concert with Rex. They both made the mistake of going after that shiny new toy, losing out and hampering other plans. He has been drafting too many projects lately. That isn't to say Wilson, Wilkerson, Ellis, Ducasse, McKnight won't be good. In fact, I think 4 of the 5 will be significant contributors going forward. I also believe that the trading of picks should stop as the economies of scale for rookies has really changed with the new CBA........... If I missed someone or something it was probably an omission of error........... I just realized I wasted 45 minutes on an offseason post................I am going to kick my dog and beat my wife..........later. Oh I forgot to add, look at me look at me...............
The Jets forum is like a Venn diagram now, with this on one side, The Rational Thread on the other, and The Condescending There is Nothing to Be Worried About Thread in the middle.
Actually it should have been named, look at me, look at me. There really isn't anything irrational in what I posted. I wasted so much time why not hit submit?
You left out Moore. Moore is not the same player he was. it's time to move on and find his replacement. if you get a much better option at RT, then maybe you can keep him for another year but he's clearly on the decline and "Meat's" best days are behind him. in terms of Keller, he's not an enigma. the guy has problems when he has linebackers up in his face and knocking him around at the line of scrimmage.he's not a physical guy, and it's starting to hurt him. he can burn a linebacker once he's out in space but a lot of the times he's not even getting there because he's either rerouted or getting knocked up at the LOS
Great post Puck. Seriously. Really can't argue with anything you posted. Plus, the "Smith should be fluffing black porn stars" was the first time I laughed since the game ended. I'm not a big salary cap guy, but from what I understand, we are fairly handcuffed for next season. Seems like we have a lot of needs/issues and not too much we can do to effectively fill them.
Still think woody and Christmas tree are shitty. They are the problems what have they brought us but expensive tickets and empty promises.
I'm definitely starting the "Deez nutz is itching me and I can't sleep" thread in about an hour or so so don't let the competition close before that.
Can't score on the first drive? They can't score in the first qtr. everygame it is can the jets survive the first 15 minutes. Overall the team needs more speed. Safety position and lb position can be exposed by tight ends and running backs.
I was thinking earlier- what if we all just showed up on the Packers board and pretended to have been fans all along, registered but our screen names were lost in some mysterious board crash, profess our love of all things midwest, including cold weather, cheese and women in flannel shirts? Would probably be alot better than sitting around here for the remainder of the season. The rest of the season is meaningless at this point, and I'm just glad that we got in our epic tailgate before the team flushed our party down the toilet.
I agree Puck, I have a feeling some veteran players are going to say to hell with this if major changes don't occur. Way too much lip service and PSL filling of seats with big names without insuring the rest of the team was functional. To me we also lost the 12th man during home games (although lately some players think they must be it), it may appear loud at the stadium but to me there is a noticeable difference between pre-PSL noise levels and now.
