Pretty sure Maycock didn't know Calvin Pace or Mike Pettine, so after he screwed up both of them, someone looked them up for him and then he kept mentioning them. He even had someone find a Pettine story for him.
you mean he didn't know they didn't have a timeout, but yeah. Reminds me of a college football game I was watching recently where on 4th down, to run out the clock at the end of the game, a team had its QB run around and then finally throw it away. The announcer complained for 5 seconds about why would the team risk it, why wouldn't they take a knee, how stupid a decision was it... before someone obviously mentioned into his headset that it was 4th down. If you take a knee on 4th down, the other team gets the ball with time left on the clock.
I hated hearing the guy pronounce the league..he said it like the lig. Drove me nuts. and the call the time out! meanwhile.......we had none.
Mayock is a terrible commentator, but he's good on non live TV (i.e. the coaches show, NFL live). He's just not good on the spot and i think he needs glasses. Regardless, as bad as these guys were, they're still not as bad as Matt Millen and Joe Theissmann
thank you for this post....i thought i was alone/just buzzed and annoyed. they were awful, talked way too much, and made tons of mistakes. nfl network seems to lower the volume of the game and increase the volume of the commentary. it was brutal.
"I don't understand why the Jets didn't call a time out there....they wasted 18 seconds" Shortly after using our 3rd timeout of the half
At least Theissmann has the "Danny Woodcock" blunder to claim in the comic relief column. The NFL network has horrific commentators, across the board. Utterly craptastic.
My favorite moment from Mayock was the 15 minute story he told about Pettine's rise to prominence with the Ravens. It was a 30 second story that he kept trying to tell, but then there would be a play, so he'd comment about the play, then back to the story, then another play, then more story. It went on forever and I don't think he ever finished. It was listening to my 85 year old grandmother talk about losing a sock in the laundry.
Agree This is the first time I'm hearing this team. They are not up to professional broadcast standards
They were awful, but it was all worth it for the fact that they mentioned on of Denver's wide recievers girlfriend sang the national anthem. "She was wearing his jersey while she was singing", "yea but after this she may be wearing Bart Scotts number" HAHAH Couldn't believe he said that. Bart had a good game too, wouldn't surprise me if he went to town on her.
shit are u serious - have wondered what ever happened to him. man he could have been something if he stayed with it.
